The Boring Adventure

Titan_07
D. Deva is a history teacher. Hasini is his daughter. They do not get along. On a stormy night on a mountain road, a single moment — a deer, a wet road, a split second decision — sends their car off the edge and into darkness. They wake up somewhere else entirely. No car. No mountain. No world they recognise. The land around them is vast and ancient. The people carry swords. The cities are built from gold that has lost its value. And the armour on the soldiers riding past belongs to a century that Deva has only ever read about in textbooks. They are not dead. They are not dreaming. They have fallen through a hidden gateway into a world that should not exist — a world where history did not stop, where kingdoms rise and fall over secrets older than memory, and where three powerful kings have spent lifetimes manipulating a cycle that connects this world to their own in ways neither Deva nor Hasini can yet understand. They are not heroes. They were not chosen. They are a history teacher and his teenage daughter who took a wrong turn on a mountain road and now cannot find their way back home. But the longer they stay, the more they realise that home may have to wait. Because something in this world is broken. And they may be the only ones who can see it clearly enough to fix it — not because they were meant to, but simply because they are here, and they cannot look away.
