"Hold on tight!"
Hearing the voice, Hao'er and the others gripped the flying artifact beneath them as it accelerated downward. A fierce wind lashed their faces, blowing so hard they could barely keep their eyes open.
Behind them came the screeching cries and the flapping of wings from the flock of giant birds. Their vision darkened, and simultaneously, the air grew noticeably colder.
Looking forward, they realized the flying artifact had passed through the canopy of towering trees, entering the forest and landing on the ground.
"Squeak!"
A sound echoed, revealing a giant bird, unwilling to let its prey escape. It folded its wings and dove straight down, its sharp, hooked red beak letting out a shrill cry as its two clawed feet lunged toward the nearest child, Muchen.
Perhaps the giant bird deemed this human child too small and harmless. Seizing him would make it easier to carry off its prey for a satisfying meal.
"Watch out!"
