Chapter 5 - Picking Up The Two Siblings

With Sura's new weapons, they broke into the security booth without much noise to steal the keys to one of the trucks in the loading bay. They loaded the back of the truck and crammed it with food and other necessary supplies.

One of the things that Luna wanted to do was to try to find survivors, including the siblings he saw earlier. The main reason he didn't want to bring them with him was that they were in a state where their emotional instability would be a liability; that and Luna did not have the luxury of protecting someone while fighting zombies.

"Bro, after we spot some survivors, we should try to contact some of our friends," Boni suggested. The reason why they didn't do it earlier was that they had felt the utmost urgency to strengthen themselves. As long-time MMORPG players, they knew that the beginning of an MMORPG was where you should go hard on leveling and collecting resources.

Those who fall behind would usually fall prey to any player-killers, which in this new world, as gamified as the is, would still mean permanent death. Death was still death... or rather, death meant zombification.

"We're here, this is the house those two were in earlier." Luna slowed down the truck to a halt and stopped in front of a small blue gate. Sura and Boni stayed behind to keep watch outside, while Luna went to check on the two siblings.

They had calmed down a little bit after moving to the living room, unable to look at the two dead zombies that were once their parents. Luna noticed this detail and figured out that the spawned zombies, when killed, would fade away, while the people who were infected wouldn't. Luna offered the two the opportunity to follow him to his stronghold, to which they agreed.

"Thank you, Manong*, we'll pack our things, and we'll be set to leave."

Meanwhile, outside, Boni and Sura were talking.

"Boni?" Sura asked in a gentle tone, something she usually wouldn't do, if it weren't for the fact that she knew Boni was Luna's best friend.

"Oh.. Yeah?" Surprised that Sura would initiate a conversation, Boni was caught off-guard a bit, but still managed to reply.

"Why aren't you guys looking for your parents? I noticed there wasn't anybody else in Luna's house earlier."

"Ah.. Luna, he uh.. he lost his parents in an accident. A plane crash. Well, an accident, or so they say. Some people speculated it was more like an assassination, but there wasn't enough proof."

"What about his relatives?" Sura became even more curious. It seems like Luna's family issues might have been far more complicated at first glance.

"When Luna's parents died when he was young, they all scrambled to compete for their property in the guise of being Luna's guardian. I'm not sure how it works in your world, but here, certain laws can be abused by evil people." Boni clenched his fist. He knew that despite all that had happened in his life, Luna was still a kind individual to those he knew deserved it, but he was no fool either; he knew how to scheme when needed, and he knew how to spot a scheme or when someone wasn't sincere towards him. Boni continued to explain how certain laws applied to orphaned youths like Luna.

"So how did he manage to keep everything?" Sura was even more curious about Luna now. How could a young kid not lose everything to such malicious family members? She knew she wouldn't have been able to do the same; the Asura as a race was straightforward and focused on getting stronger to obtain more benefits. Sura was one of the few who actually set aside time to study the new world she was going to be summoned into during her free time.

"Hehe. Those who underestimate Luna will surely meet an ugly end." Boni wore a proud smile on his face, which showed his admiration for his friend. "He didn't go too far into detail as he doesn't like to brag, but in the end, his relatives were left with nothing, even losing much of their wealth in the process. Some even their lives."

"Alright, guys, let's head out!" Just as the two were deep in conversation, Luna and the two siblings appeared by the gate and were heading towards the truck. "This is Mabini, and his little sister Apple; their father was Mr. Linario, our professor in college," he introduced the two.

"I'm sorry for your loss. I'm Boni. This is Sura." Boni gave them his condolences and introduced themselves as well.

"Thank you, nice to meet you," they replied. They were stunned for a moment after seeing Sura. They had no idea that one of the people who saved them would be such a stunning beauty; they didn't notice her earlier due to the situation they were in.

After arriving back at Luna's place, they drove the truck into his huge driveway and started unloading the supplies. Boni then proceeded to explain what they've learned so far on top of what was in the introduction manual to the two siblings. After that, Boni decided to talk for a bit to get to know their new allies while Luna and Sura went upstairs to check for anything new that popped up online.

"Apple's a real genius. Even during High School, she was already studying to be a lawyer, on top of being a national champion in Chess!" Mabini couldn't help but be enthusiastic when talking about his little sister's achievement.

"Manong! You're embarrassing me!" Apple, on the other hand, couldn't help but cover her face as she blushed. In Highschool, she had always felt as if she wasn't cool enough.

"Hahaha! You should be happy to have such a supportive older brother!" Boni couldn't help but appreciate the closeness of these two siblings.

As they were talking to each other, they heard Luna and Sura coming down from upstairs.

"Luna, did you find anything out?" Boni's countenance changed to a more serious one.

"It's bad, I have the current events pulled up on my PC. All of you, follow me to the gaming room, you'll have to see this for yourselves." Luna turned around as the other three followed. They knew that all these strange things that they've witnessed so far were just the beginning. When they saw all the reports Luna had pulled up on all six of his monitors, their mouths couldn't help but drop.
