Chapter 6: Secrets Beneath Gotham
Gotham City had always been a place where secrets thrived.
But in recent months, one secret had become impossible to ignore.
A figure moved through the night.
Criminals feared him.
The police struggled to understand him.
The newspapers gave him a name.
Batman.
Alexander Sterling had been following the reports closely.
Not because he believed Batman was dangerous.
Because something about him felt familiar.
The way he investigated crimes.
The way he studied opponents before acting.
The way he avoided unnecessary damage.
The discipline.
The control.
The patience.
Alexander had known only one person who carried himself that way.
Bruce Wayne.
Bruce had returned to Gotham after years away.
But he was different.
He spoke less.
He kept his thoughts guarded.
Whenever Alexander asked about his travels, Bruce always gave short answers.
"I learned a lot."
"That's all."
Alexander respected his friend's privacy.
But then Batman appeared.
And the similarities became impossible to ignore.
One night, Alexander decided to find out the truth.
He followed Batman across Gotham.
Not because he wanted to expose him.
Because he needed to understand.
Batman moved through the city with precision, stopping a group of criminals attempting to steal weapons.
Alexander watched from a nearby rooftop.
The fight was over within minutes.
No unnecessary violence.
No wasted movement.
Just strategy.
Just control.
Exactly what he expected from Bruce.
Batman disappeared into the night.
Alexander followed.
The trail led outside the city.
Toward Wayne Manor.
Alexander stopped when he saw Batman enter a hidden entrance beneath the property.
His eyes widened.
"So that's where you've been hiding."
Alexander waited before entering.
When he finally reached the bottom of the passage, he stepped into a massive underground cavern.
A computer system filled one side of the room.
Crime maps covered the walls.
Advanced technology surrounded the area.
Then Alexander saw it.
The vehicle parked in the center of the cave.
A black armored machine unlike anything on Earth.
The Batmobile.
Alexander walked around it slowly.
"So this is what you've been building."
A voice came from behind him.
"You shouldn't be here."
Alexander turned.
Bruce Wayne stood in the shadows.
No mask.
No armor.
No disguise.
The truth was right in front of him.
Alexander looked at Bruce.
Then back at the Batmobile.
"So it really is you."
Bruce didn't respond.
He didn't need to.
For a moment, the cave was silent.
Then Bruce spoke.
"I was going to tell you."
Alexander raised an eyebrow.
"Were you?"
Bruce looked away.
Alexander sighed.
"I figured it out."
Bruce studied him.
"How?"
"Your habits."
"The way you think."
"The way you move."
Alexander paused.
"And because whoever Batman is…"
"He's someone who cares about Gotham but doesn't trust anyone enough to ask for help."
Bruce looked at him.
"You sound like Alfred."
Alexander smiled slightly.
"He's probably right too."
Bruce walked toward the Batmobile.
"You can't tell anyone."
Alexander looked offended.
"Bruce."
"I've kept a secret my entire life."
Bruce stopped.
"What?"
Alexander remained quiet for a moment.
Then he walked toward the vehicle.
Bruce watched him carefully.
"Alexander…"
Without warning, Alexander placed one hand beneath the front of the Batmobile.
Bruce's eyes widened.
"What are you doing?"
Alexander lifted.
The massive armored vehicle rose from the ground effortlessly.
The entire cave went silent.
Bruce stared.
The Batmobile weighed thousands of pounds.
Yet Alexander held it like it was nothing.
He carefully lowered it back down.
Bruce looked at him.
For the first time in years…
He had no answer.
Alexander gave him a small smile.
"Now you understand."
Bruce was quiet.
"Understand what?"
"That you're not the only person with something impossible to hide."
Alexander looked toward the Batmobile.
"My parents found me when I was a baby."
Bruce listened carefully.
"They adopted me."
"But I wasn't from Earth."
Bruce's expression changed.
"What?"
Alexander nodded.
"I came here in a pod."
"I was raised human…"
"But I'm not completely human."
Bruce stared at his friend.
All these years, he had believed Alexander was simply a brilliant, wealthy kid with unusual talent.
He had never imagined this.
"You're an alien."
Alexander nodded.
"A Saiyan."
Bruce repeated the word quietly.
"Saiyan."
"My people are gone."
"The pod that brought me here has been teaching me how to control my abilities."
Bruce looked back at the Batmobile.
Then at Alexander.
The realization settled in.
They weren't as different as he thought.
Both carried secrets.
Both had lost something.
Both had chosen to protect people.
"Why tell me?"
Bruce asked.
Alexander looked at him.
"Because I found out your secret."
"And because you're my friend."
Bruce was silent.
After years of hiding everything from the world…
Someone had finally trusted him with something impossible.
"You could have told me before."
Alexander smiled.
"You disappeared before I had the chance."
For the first time in a long time…
Bruce laughed.
A real laugh.
Later, the two stood in the Batcave overlooking Gotham.
Batman was no longer a secret between them.
And Alexander's true identity was no longer his burden alone.
Bruce looked at the city.
"I thought I had to do this alone."
Alexander shook his head.
"You don't."
Bruce looked at him.
"Are you saying you want to help?"
Alexander smiled.
"I've been protecting people long before I knew Gotham existed."
A small grin appeared beneath Bruce's serious expression.
"Then I guess Gotham has two problems now."
Alexander raised an eyebrow.
"What problems?"
"You."
"Me?"
"And your terrible habit of lifting expensive vehicles."
Alexander laughed.
For the first time since Bruce Wayne returned…
The darkness surrounding him felt a little lighter.
Because he wasn't alone anymore.
