The fear in her own voice surprised her almost as much as it surprised Jong Suk, because there had been nothing playful about the reaction, and Jong Suk immediately stopped moving when he saw her face lose colour.

"I know."
"Then why did you react like I was hurting you?"
She slowly looked down at her hands, which were still gripping the necklace hard enough for the edges of the pendant to press into her skin. "I don't know, Oppa. I really don't know, but when you touched it, I just suddenly felt like you shouldn't take it."
Jong Suk watched her for a long moment, clearly unhappy with the answer, although instead of reaching toward her again he stepped backward and raised both hands in surrender. "Fine, keep it, but from now on if that thing becomes warm, cold, blue, green, starts singing or does anything even slightly strange, you call me before you decide to investigate it yourself."
