Outside the pavilion, Min-ah found Eunuch Jang already sitting beside one of the wooden pillars with his arms tucked comfortably into his sleeves. The old eunuch had spent most of the day cooking, travelling, watching the King become jealous and arranging the summer residence, so his eyes were already half closed by the time Min-ah emerged alone.
He opened one eye when he saw the bundle of Yeon Joo's clothes in her arms, then glanced toward the closed door behind her and immediately understood why the King had not appeared at the separate bathing chamber prepared for him.
