Chapter 207 - Chapter 207: Burning the Essence

The agony of infinite cellular rebirth lasted for three grueling hours.

Fang Lin remained kneeling in the center of the stark void-metal vault. His dark robes had long since been reduced to absolute nothingness. He was completely naked, his muscular frame trembling as sweat poured down skin that had been destroyed and remade ten thousand times.

The Emerald-gold Life Core spun violently in his Dantian. It was working at its absolute maximum capacity. It constantly flooded his right arm and torso with pure, unadulterated vitality.

He didn't dare blink. He didn't dare break his concentration.

If his control slipped for even a fraction of a second, the eradication flame would outpace his regeneration. His Greater Mastery Asura Flesh, usually dense enough to shatter high-grade spiritual artifacts, was completely meaningless against a conceptual law.

Then, without warning, the invisible wave of eradication simply vanished.

Fang Lin gasped. His chest heaved violently as the crushing, existential pressure of the bodily trial abruptly lifted. He slumped forward. He planted his left hand onto the dark, scorching bronze floor just to steady himself.

His right hand was completely intact. The bone, the muscle, the skin—all of it was there. However, it was hypersensitive and raw, vibrating with the phantom pain of being turned to ash.

He had survived Stage One. His physical vessel had held together through sheer, brute-force cellular regeneration.

"Don't relax!" the Dark Flame Spirit shouted, her voice echoing sharply in his Spiritual Sea.

Fang Lin gritted his teeth, forcing himself to lift his head.

"I wasn't planning on it," he muttered. His breath came out in ragged, hot gasps.

Before he could even draw a full breath, the pitch-black spark hovering in the dead center of the room pulsed a second time.

This time, the visual nature of the flame shifted entirely. It lost its absolute blackness. The spark turned from a void-like black into a blinding, translucent silver.

It was beautiful. It was mesmerizing. It was undeniably lethal.

A second wave of force swept across the circular vault. Fang Lin braced his physical body, preparing to flood his cells with Life Qi once again.

But the wave didn't touch his skin.

It phased completely through his physical flesh, ignoring his Asura physique entirely. Instead, the force sank directly into his spiritual pathways, bypassing matter to attack energy.

Instantly, his meridians ignited.

"Gah!" Fang Lin choked. His pitch-black eyes widened in absolute shock.

A violent spasm locked his muscles. The silver flame wasn't attacking his body; it was attacking his foundation. The heat inside his intricate meridian network skyrocketed in a matter of seconds.

It instantly boiled the vast, ocean-like reserves of Qi flowing through his Four-Pillared Cosmic Cycle.

This wasn't a physical burn. The eradication flame was attempting to burn away his cultivation base entirely. It was a targeted strike against his spiritual existence.

His Qi evaporated at a terrifying rate.

If his meridians were reduced to ash, he wouldn't die. He would be permanently crippled. He would be erased from the Dao itself, reduced to a mortal husk incapable of ever cultivating again.

He tried to suppress the fire with raw volume. He pumped more Qi from his Dantian, forcing the vast energy reserves of his Tetra-Core System outward.

It was completely useless.

The more Qi he supplied, the faster the silver flame burned. It was a parasite. It used his own spiritual energy as fuel to accelerate its conceptual eradication.

"You can't heal this with the Life Core!" the Spirit yelled.

Her tiny black eyes were wide with intense focus. She stood on the edge of the Ancient Spatial Furnace, fully aware of the stakes.

"This isn't physical destruction," she warned, her voice carrying the weight of ancient cosmic truths. "This is a Law of Essence Eradication! Eat it, Loud-Boy! Use my power and eat it!"

Fang Lin didn't hesitate. He had no other choice.

He forced himself into a perfectly cross-legged seated position on the bronze floor. He ignored the horrifying sensation of his meridians slowly melting from the inside out.

With a ruthless exertion of will, he severed the connection to his Emerald-gold Life Core. He couldn't afford to feed the fire more vitality.

He instantly activated his....Dark Flame Core.

*Thump.*

The Dark-red Dark Flame Core flared to life with a violent, necrotic roar.

Fang Lin unleashed the Abyssal Consumption innate skill. The black, necrotic fire surged through his boiling meridians like a tidal wave. It collided violently with the translucent silver flame.

Instead of fighting the heat with absolute cold, Fang Lin commanded his Dark Flame Qi to swallow the invading silver fire whole.

It was a completely suicidal maneuver.

Swallowing a conceptual flame of eradication created a massive, catastrophic level of friction inside his spiritual pathways. Two supreme laws of fire were warring inside a mortal vessel.

The heat generated by the collision threatened to rupture his meridians permanently. The walls of his spiritual pathways began to crack and blister under the sheer temperature.

To survive the consumption, he needed a coolant. He needed something absolute.

*Thump.*

The Silver-white Frost Core spun into action simultaneously.

Fang Lin channeled the Frozen Heaven Sutra to its absolute limit. His dark eyes flashed with a cold, unforgiving light.

He projected the Law of Stillness not outward as an attack, but entirely inward as a desperate defense mechanism. He coated the delicate inner lining of his meridians with a thick layer of absolute zero cessation force.

He was performing an impossible internal surgery.

The Frozen Heaven Sutra cooled the physical walls of his meridians, protecting the delicate tissue from the catastrophic heat. It was a cryogenic shield against the apocalypse.

At the exact same time, the Abyssal Consumption of the Dark Flame Core aggressively devoured the silver eradication flame flowing through the center of those same pathways.

*Consume. Freeze. Consume. Freeze.*

The Four-Pillared Cosmic Cycle roared. It acted as the perfect, flawless engine to manage the conflicting forces.

It perfectly separated the absolute cold and the extreme heat. It forced a millimeter of space between the two extreme temperatures, preventing them from annihilating each other inside his body.

But the pressure was building.

As the absolute cold of the Frost Core and the extreme heat of the Dark Flame Core ground against the limitless vitality of the Life Core and the necrotic decay of the Death Core, a terrifying pressure built up in his Dantian.

It was like a star collapsing inward. The four distinct energies didn't just coexist anymore.

Under the extreme duress of the silver eradication flame, the four cores were forced to synchronize. They began to grind together in a perfect, high-velocity orbit, their distinct laws bleeding into one another.

The Dantian became a crucible. The Frost, Dark Flame, Life, and Death cores spun so fast they blurred into a single, terrifying singularity.

Suddenly, a completely new, grey-colored energy bled from the center of the spinning cycle.

Fang Lin's pitch-black eyes widened. The interlocking colored rings in his pupils flared violently as this new energy flowed into his melting meridians.

It wasn't Qi. It wasn't raw vitality. It wasn't soul power.

It was a terrifying, primordial amalgamation of his entire foundation. It was a force birthed only when all four of his distinct cores rotated in absolute, flawless unison under the threat of total annihilation.

It possessed a crushing, physical weight that defied logic.

Fang Lin gasped. He felt the sheer, overwhelming heaviness of the grey energy dragging down his meridians. He had no name for it yet, but its conceptual superiority was undeniable.

When this new, grey cosmic force touched the invading silver flame, it didn't just consume it.

It crushed it.

The silver flame of eradication rippled, struggling against the sheer, oppressive weight of the grey energy. But it was useless. Slowly, agonizingly, the dark-red fire, now heavily empowered by the cosmic force, began to completely overwhelm the eradication fire.

Deep in his Spiritual Sea, the Ancient Spatial Furnace glowed with a faint, greedy light.

The tiny fraction of the silver flame that the Dark Flame Core successfully swallowed was violently refined. The Furnace broke down the conceptual law, turning it into pure, raw spiritual fuel for his foundation.

Fang Lin's aura began to stabilize.

His boiling Qi slowly cooled, settling back into its vast, oceanic rhythm. The terrifying threat to his foundation was forcefully suppressed by the sheer, unyielding synergy of his multiple cores.

The heat inside his meridians faded, leaving behind a profound sense of clarity. He could feel the residual strength of the silver flame lingering in his pathways, permanently strengthening the walls of his meridian network. His foundation hadn't just survived the eradication; it had absorbed its pressure, becoming denser and more robust than ever before.

He opened his eyes. The sweat continued to pour down his face, pooling on the dark bronze floor beneath him. A heavy, exhausted breath escaped his lips, carrying a faint wisp of grey mist—the lingering residue of the cosmic force.

Despite the overwhelming exhaustion, a ruthless, triumphant smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

He had stared down a conceptual law that was designed to erase his very existence from the universe. He hadn't just endured it. He had conquered it.

He had turned a lethal trial into a feast for his dark fire.

The silver light in the circular vault dimmed, fading back into the absolute darkness of the abyss. The oppressive, soul-crushing weight of the essence trial vanished as quickly as it had appeared.

The second stage was over.
