Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: It will never vanish…

"Thank you very much! Please come again!"

The woman behind the counter gave Kenji Hikari's Yukata. The red garment was now fixed again, after it had been tattered at the New Years incident. As Kenji stepped out of the tailoring he remembered the boy he met yesterday. Kenji's feeling of guilt for his death came back, but then again,  he remembered the Archangel, he talked to when he was in coma, and as her words came back into his mind, these feelings would just vanish. He was still confused about her. She seemed so familiar to him, yet he doesn't know one bit about her.

"~I'm probably just imagining things...~"

He kept moving forwards, the streets looked as lively as always even despite the New Years incident. Nothing has really changed, the people were going out with their friends, businessmen being busy talking on their phones, and families with playing kids running around.

"~They wanted us to be scared...but i think they failed with that.~"

Kenji's expression turned into a satisfied smile. Suddenly he heard a kid crying and instantly turned around. He was reliefed when he saw the little girl just lost hold of her pink balloon. It was stuck under a small roof over the entrance to a building. Kenji got there, took the balloon and gave it to the girl.

"Thank you mister!!"

The girl's smile and the grateful face of her mother made him happy.

"Remember to keep hold to the things dear to you."

The girl nodded her head as answer. Kenji pat her head with her long brown hair shortly, turned around and got on his way home again. Helping people made him happy, it's part of his duty as incomplete Angel anyways but that isn't the reason. On his way he kept looking for people who need help, there weren't much problems but Kenji gave some food to a few homeless people. They were very thankful for him. When Kenji waited for the traffic light to turn green he heard a whispering voice in his head, but it didn't come from anybody near him.

"Spreading light on that shattered world again..?"

The voice sounded amused.

"Do you really think, this can change anything now? People like you will never learn, eh? A smile of a happy kid is important, you think so right? Nothing can buy a something like this? Well, but I wonder what expression all these kids will have soon, in a world shattered even more...a world full of suffering and despair..where no smile ever reaches you. Will you really be able to make everyone smile in a world like this?...A world without happiness...Well, you don't have to answer me. You will find out soon enough anyways ehehehe."

Kenji got mad, he couldn't stand that laugh, he was mad at everything the voice said.

"SHUT UP!!! OUT OF MY HEAD!!"

Kenji shouted out loud, forgetting he was standing on the street together with dozens of people, who now all looked at him. The traffic lights turned green and he started moving forwards with the other people. He was looking on the ground, felt a bit ashamed for losing his control in public.

"~You will see...World isn't as fragile as you think...~"

He reached the building with the apartment of him and his three friends. After picking the key out of his pocket he opened the door and stepped in.

"I am home!"

He didn't get an answer just short nods from his friends who were sitting on the couch and staring at the TV, which was showing the news right now, with a serious expression. The screen showed the 20th of January.

"I've slept for 19 days? Damn."

He sat down next to Hikari and listened to the reporter as the others did.

"Another terrorist attack targetted barracks of the UNITED MIDDLE EAST FEDERATION ARMY in the city of Baghdad. 27 soldiers, who were doing a training exercise at the moment, got shot from 7 of their comrades who were shouting: May Hell come forth! 23 of them, including the terrorists themselved died at the same place,  and the heavily injured survivors are currently being treated in an Army hospital near the city. It is the 15th incident in connection with the Terror Network Hell's Revolution that's active all around the globe, especially in America and the Middle, East since they carried out their attack at Tokyo's New Years Parade. A total of 368 people has died from their attacks so far and there is still no hint leading to a leader of that group. We'll keep you up to date involving new information about Hell's Revolution, stay safe! And now let's have a look at the weather. A huge typho-"

Jason turned off the TV, rubbing his red hair, and he started to talk.

"We know exactly 'bout their leader..at least one of 'em. We need to stop that.."

Hikari looked at him with a serious expression.

"All of us wish to do something, Jason, but you know we can't do anything yet. We don't have a hint where he could be either."

Kenji agreed with her.

"She's right. For now all we can do is to follow the situation and try to be there if something happens. We also need to carry out our usual duties as Angels, don't forget that."

Everyone in the group nodded as agreement when Jessica sighted Hikari's Yukata lying next to Kenji. She opened her mouth, closed it and shook her head and then opened it again.

"Hey, Jason, will you help me run some errands. We are low on bread and some other things I think."

Jason looked at her with a confused face.

"What are you talkin' 'bou-"

"Alrighty, alrightyyy!!"

Jessica grabbed his arm and dragged him outside. Hikari looked amused at her friends moving out and closing the door. She turned around to Kenji then.

"So, where did you go?"

Kenji looked at the red garment next to him and put his hand on it.

"Well, I-"

He couldn't finish. The moment Hikari saw it, she stood up with a thrilled expression.

"Is that my Yukata!? Did you have it fixed? Thank you so much, I was so sad when it was all tattered but now it is all fine again, thank you!"

Kenji didn't answer, he just nodded and her happiness made him happy, too. His thoughts went back to the voice in his head earlier again. But he wasn't scared or mad. He was satisfied and determined.

"~You will see. Lights like her will never vanish from this world...you'll see...and then you will be the one who's gonna be mad.~"

Kenji still looked at Hikari, a bit amused about her excitement. Hikari happily sat down next to him again.

"What are you so amused about?"

Hikari didn't mean the question seriously but Kenji answered a serious answer with a smile on his face.

"Nothing. There's just some light in your face."

He laid his head in the neck and stared at the ceiling, while Hikari was still thinking about what he just said.

*~That's right. This light will never vanish...and I will protect all of it!~*

-The happy smile of a person isn't worth any price...it's pure light and you should appreciate it all...and no one should be able to take away that light.-
