Frank channeled his connection with his home through the Realm he had created and the Barrier Formation there, instantly teleporting himself to the house.
"Mom! Dad!"
He called out as he found them downstairs. He placed Kamei gently on his bed and rushed down. The sharp smell of blood stirred old memories—or rather, dreams of another Frank—his heart pounding.
"Mom!"
He burst into the room to find his mother bleeding from a deep wound on her left shoulder. His father, covered in bleeding bruises, stood bravely wielding the family heirloom—an old katana—against a swarm of imp-like Yokai.
"G-Get away! GET AWAY!"
His stepfather defended his wife with desperate courage even as his own life ebbed away. He had no powers, nothing at all—just an ordinary human fending off these creatures alone.
"F-Frank?!" His mother gasped as he rushed in. "You're back—Ah! There are monsters! Run!"
"It's okay!" Frank said firmly. "Michael, heal her please!"
