Chapter 1 - The activation

Inside a Tokyo Elite school, the class of this year sat on their desks and stared at their teacher. With a chicken's head and his hands covered in feather, the teacher was bound to be a laughingstock if not for his incredible fighting prowess.

"It was an incredible year for all of us, don't you agree?" The teacher asked. His huge eyes darted from a student to another, giving most of them flashbacks of getting their asses beaten the day they started disobeying this horrendous teacher.

"YES, SIR!" Most of the students in the class yelled in unison. Though they were graduating this week, it didn't mean that the teacher couldn't beat their asses up daily for the upcoming week.

"I am glad to have had you as my students and I hope you achieve great things in your future. I know you all want to enter U.A and become great heroes but If you don't make it, don't worry, there are always other high schools in Japan." The teacher ran his eyes over the students and saw the disappointed but accepting looks on their faces. Nodding his head, he opened the door and headed out.

"Damn man, way to destroy our dreams…." One of the students with unnaturally long and sharp nails sighed.

"I am going to U.A, no matter what…"

"Dream on…"

"Let's just go home and play some games man…"

"Fuck U.A, that high school sucks…."

Students in the class voiced out their opinions, some being dissatisfied, some angry and some indifferent.

Unknown to most, the teacher had not gone back to his office and stood outside the door, listening to his student's grievances. He had known this would happen. This happened to every batch of students before they graduated. Everyone dreamt of entering in U.A, but few attained it. He had been one of these students some decades ago, but now he only cared about going home and watching T.V.

No matter how hard he acted on the exterior, he felt pain on the inside when someone mocked him. As years progressed, he had decided that having a child would be horrible, more for the novice than himself. His lineage would end with himself. As he thought of this, the teacher sighed and shook his head. A sad smile took upon his beak, and he made his way towards his office.

There were some in his class who would had the potential to make it to U.A, but U.A was mysterious. Aside from powerful quirks, it had other requirements unknown to the outside. If there were any students who could make it to U.A this year, he would be satisfied with the entirety of his life. After all, he would have helped in the making of a hero. Though his face may fade into obscurity in that individual's eyes, he would know that he was a part of the heroes' life and that would be enough for him.

The teacher found the thought to be pathetic, but he just chuckled at the idea. Not everyone was destined for greatness, he thought.

…..

Yamor, carrying his yellow backpack and wearing the standard red blazer with blue pants made his way out the school and onto the street. Putting his headphones on, he walked towards his house with various thoughts occupying his mind.

"What do I wanna do when I grow up?" Staring at the cloudy sky, Yamor wondered. He had a quirk, but he himself wasn't sure what to do with it. He didn't have that great of a look to be a model. He lacked interest in going to high school and lacked the heroic traits and enthusiasm to be a hero. He was a lackluster man living in a rapidly evolving society.

"Maybe I'll just start writing novels or something.." Noticing the sky getting cloudier, Yamor increased his pace and headed towards his house. As he neared his house, Yamor noticed another girl heading his direction and noticed some very similar features he had seen before in the neighborhood. Blue hair, blue eyes, and long hair that curled around itself at her waist.

"Nejire Hado…" The name instantly came to his mind. The pretty girl who everyone from the neighborhood loved and nurtured into a kind and caring girl. The magnificent girl who entered U.A, 2 years ago. But, Yamor didn't stop walking. He knew what these random reunions would lead to.

Superficial conversations about her life and saying hi. That was it. Yamor had no time for these trivial things, he had more important stuff to do, like play video games or work on his writing skills.

"Hmm, are you Yamor?" Just as Yamor passed by her, he heard the coquettish voice of his childhood friend and turned around.

"Yes, you are Nejire." Yamor said bluntly. Since she had already noticed him, he would be blunt with his words, make her confused, a little flustered and leave after some seconds of awkwardness.

"Of course I am, don't you recognize me anymore?" Nejire asked. She showed no signs of being flustered or even a little perplexed at all.

"Of course I do." Yamor replied. His expression nor his face showed any signs of interest. After not receiving the same amount of energy from the opposite proponent when conversing, the conversation would die out quickly.

"You've grown a lot, huh?" Nejire said whilst giving Yamor a smile, "You look much taller."

Yamor, who was on the receiving end of the smile, instead of feeling jovial or elated, felt intrigued. Why was she smiling at him? Just as the memories and realization dawned upon him, Yamors mind shook and his eyes widened.

"Oh heck no." Without hesitation, Yamor turned around and made a run for it. Opening the gate to his house, he rushed inside and rushed up to his room and locked his door.

Yamor entered his bed and covered his head with a blanket and just as he felt the sweet release of consciousness and him descending into sleep, he felt a jolt of pain and was forced to open his eyes.

In front of him was Nejire, and she moved her mouth and Yamor could barely make out the words she was saying. Soon, his muddled hearing and blurry vision turned normal and he could finally make out what she was saying, "Yamor, are you okay?"
