The two palace maids exchanged a look, thought of His Majesty's instructions before leaving, and both shook their heads.
Xia Weibao couldn't quite tell what she was feeling.
She didn't want to see him, but when she heard he hadn't come at all, she felt a bit disappointed.
Feeling the room was chilly, she was a little puzzled. It was already summer and the weather was rather stuffy, so how could there be such an icy-cold sensation.
Her gaze fell on the cage in the middle that was emitting cold air, and she walked over curiously.
She stretched out her hand and touched it. "Is this ice?"
"Yes, these are ice blocks to relieve the summer heat."
"Where did they come from?"
Xia Weibao reached in, grabbed a small piece of ice. It was cool and felt very comfortable to the touch.
"Replying to you, miss, they were bestowed by His Majesty."
Xia Weibao's face instantly fell. She casually tossed the ice back in. "Who cares. I'm hungry. Serve the meal."
