"You.... took my immortality?" he asked in barely more than a whisper.
"I did. It's a divine curse by the way, not a gift." I say as I take out the ability stone for it and look at the brightly colored thing as it's appraisal flashes across my eyes once more.
{Item name: Divine curse of Reincarnation
Class: Ability
Value: 10,000,000 system coins
Condition: N/A
Description: A specially created curse designed to force it's bearers soul to fuse into the soul of the nearest suitable body and slowly subsume it after each vessel perishes ad infinium. Created by the god of light of the Remnant world.}
"A curse?" he more stated than asked.
"Oh yes. Honestly it's a clever little trick that doesn't actually violate the rules of life and death. See it forces it's bearers soul to body jack the nearest suitable body and them subsume the already present soul. You don't come back from the death in truth, merely swap forms. Like replacing shoes that got damaged beyond use." I explained as I put away the stone.
I already had a few ideas about how this could be used to allow someone a far more preferable version of immortality than just stealing the bodies of others as you devour them. I'm talking about clone bodies of course. Quite like the revival mechanism from the Ark survival video games in truth. While Rockwell doesn't have that option in reality the games version was extremely similar to this. It basically worked by you dying and your consciousness getting uploaded to a clone of yourself. The real trick would be figuring out not only how to create the clones but also tying the curse to them so when you died it sent your soul there rather into someone elses body.-
"So i'm free? No more coming back? No more endless struggle?" he asked in soul deep, centuries old disbelief.
"Unless the twin gits decide to restore you to life after this body dies, yes. Honestly I almost hope they do. Then I could take it away again. This is some excellent merchandise. I know many people who would give anything for this immortality. Flawed though it is." I say with a casual nod.
"You can free Salem as well can't you? If she's not immortal anymore it solves everything." he said seriously.
"I COULD do that but i'll leave that decision up to her. I'll have to make a trip to Mimar first. That's where she bases herself as far as I understand it. Not that anyone she doesn't want there could reach her without serious effort or overwhelming power." i said pulling up the global map on my scroll to get an idea of the direction.
"She's been there this whole time!?" he exclaimed in shock.
"Ironic isn't it? That the place she'd be shacking up at would be the lands of darkness that belonged to the dark god. Really went full edge lord with her whole source of evil thing after you ruined her." I said amused.
"She hates the gods though!?" he said horribly confused.
"Oh yes but the Grimm are such useful tools and what better way to control and shape them than to reside right next to the pools of annihilation that births them? Or did she not tell you how she got her current appearance? Took a not so nice dip in those pools herself and took in their essence making her a human Grimm, the Grimm queen really. I'll be seeing about taking that too if I can. No point in her having it if she's just leaving right?" I said casually.
"Take me with you! Please!" he begged.
"No." I said flatly before putting away the leftover pizza and elementalizing as I shot into the sky and headed north west.
Mimar was the name of the dragon shaped continent on Remnant that had never held a recorded human settlement. And for good reason. The place was a nest of Grimm as their birthplace and any attempts to make a settlement wouldn't work at all. Grimm all had an innate hatred for humanity after all.-
Finding the place was easy because as the former domain of the god of darkness dark clouds shrouded the entire continent perpetually. Thanks to my devil fruit I homed in on this unnatural collection of charge like iron to a magnet. I had to slow down as I moved across and through these black clouds blanketing the continent in order to find the castle of Evernight that she lived in. As the god of darkness's former home it was the only piece of architecture on the continent so finding it with my haki was extremely easy. It stood out like a sore thumb after all.-
Looking at it though I had to admit the god of darkness had some good taste as the dark stone carved in sharp gothic fashion was quite intimidating as far as buildings went. I landed right at the entrance of the castle that had huge black metal double doors. Coating my hand in haki I threw three hard punches at the doors.
"CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!"
It's only common courtesy to knock on the front door when visiting unannounced no?
