It was a cloudy day like any other at Hogwarts. I was sitting at the lakeside with a quill and parchment doing my history homework when a great disturbance arose from the black lake. An aurora of light erupted from within it's waters and my haki locked onto it immediately. My eyes widened as I felt a pressing weight coming from the strange swirling vortex as a massive snout poked out of it. Black as night and clearly reptilian in shape but without a doubt ungodfully huge. Easily ten meters long and half that tall with large curled horns on the top and a star shaped red mark on it's forehead, a dragon.-
The crimson eyes looked around lazily before the beast began to pull it's full body through the now obvious portal. The entire dragon ended up being nearly a sixty meters long specimen that was unlike any that existed in this world. Even more surprising was that despite clearly being an aerial predator with great wings on it's back it sat in the black lake breathing just fine. It moved with the lazy confidence of something that clearly felt itself untouchable. -
I couldn't blame it.
Even just through my haki I easily felt like I had no chance at all in a straight fight against it, a feeling not even Dumbledore invoked in me. I tensed and held my spear warily as the great beast slowly pushed off the lakes bottom and ascended to the lakes surface without creating so much as a ripple. The top of it's head breached the waters surface quietly and it's eyes removed a thin membrane I hadn't realized was there as it looked around curiously. The eyes passed over me, paused for a brief moment before locking onto the castle with what I could have sworn was recognition.-
I couldn't help but appraise the creature with the system and paused as my jaw dropped.
"You're me!?" I exclaimed in shock.
That great gaze flicked back over to me instantly at that.
'Explain.' I deep rumble echoed in my mind.
"You are a transmigrator aren't you? So am I! I am Alexander Drake too! Just a different one than you but the same? Multiverse theory, if you are familiar." I explained once I regained my composure.
'I understand. So you were reincarnated into the Harry Potter verse then. System?' the voice spoke calmly.
"Multiversal merchant, you?" I asked curiously.
'Custom monster. In monster hunter world specifically.' it replied.
"Ooph, that's rough. Hunters a problem?" i asked sympathetically.
'It's got it's ups and downs. I work with the hunters, equal partnership.' it said honestly.
"How the bloody hell did you manage that?" I asked surprised.
'I hatched in Astera right after my reincarnation, as a leopard gecko. I earned their trust over time as I worked to grow more powerful.' it said with the equivalent of an eye shrug.
"Huh? I suppose if you went from something that unthreatening to THIS over time it could work. Like getting a boa constrictor that goes from tiny harmless thing to giant predatory reptile." I said with an understanding nod.
'I'm not a pet. I'm something of a guardian if anything.' it said firmly.
"You have to classify as an elder dragon right? All of my instincts are screaming at me about how dangerous you are and I am nearly as strong as Dumbledore. More so in some respects too." I admit.
'King of the Monsters. Slew the Schrade Fatalis and ate it for the title.' it say with a fanged smirk.
"That would do it. So do you have any idea how we got reincarnated?" I asked seriously.
'I once asked Geralt that same question when he ended up in my world. He said that in theory a god might accomplish it.' it said seriously.
"For what purpose though and why us specifically?" I asked with a frown.
'That, I can't answer because I too have no idea. I am a little jealous of your system though. You get to trade across the multiverse to grow your power and I have to eat literally everything to accumulate unlock conditions for new traits.' it said with a deep sigh that created waves on the lakes shore.
"Fitting for a monster in that world if nothing else." I say with a shrug "Say you wouldn't happen to be willing to give me that system of yours would you? I can pay quite handsomely." I added with a smile.
'If I had a door I'd slam it in your face right now.' It said flatly.
"Harsh but fair. It's so hard being a door to door salesman." I say with a look of regret.
'I should be getting back to my world. The portal is started to destabilize. It was..... interesting having a chat with a different version of myself.' It said before sinking back into the lake and swimming into the portal before it vanished like it was never there.
'It's weird as hell that I was the one getting visited from some other world. Usually i'm the one doing that.' I thought with an amused chuckle before sitting back down to finish my homework.
