"It's a lovely place. Clearly quite well cared for by him and his wife. If you don't mind a few oddities that is." I say with a smile.
"Perhaps i'll make time to ask for a proper tour one day. For now however we best get you settled into your accommodations." she said before leading the way.
Beauxbatons was rather different than Hogwarts when it came to student accommodations. To begin with there were no "houses" in the school. Merely a separation between years and genders.-
There were seven dormitories for each of the years that got rotated up as you advanced with more complex facilities in each based on the average skill level of that years student population. First year dorms were pretty basic with no additional fixtures, second years had potion stations and practice dummies. Third years had different sections for each of the electives that became available at that time as well. The fourth through seventh year dorms were all the same but with better and more advanced equipment the higher you went. The seventh year dorms were practically an academic paradise with equipment that would not be amiss in a masters home.-
I was placed with the second year boys on account of my age even though we both knew I was WAY past that level. I was however given permission to use the seventh year dorm stations freely as a sort of balancing point to it. I wouldn't of course since using borrowed equipment was less perfect than simply using my own. Still the permission was given in good faith and accepted as such. The dorms themselves were far more luxurious than those at Hogwarts by a landslide. Fine marble flooring and walls, long bright blue silk curtains, imported elaborate rugs, carved artistic bits on the baseboards, fireplace and windows. -
The beds were solid lacquered wood with soft mattresses and comfortable cotton silk hybrid blanket and sheets. There was solid carved wooden dressers for each student and space for trunks at the foot of the beds. Each room could hold four people and there were a total of seven rooms. I was placed in the fifth room as there was a spare bed and dresser there. While having my own room in Hogwarts made sharing a space a new experience for me I only had a single roommate so it wasn't terribly uncomfortable.-
The guy himself was already dead to the world by the time Madam Maxim finished getting me acquainted with the various places I would be attending classes. She had given me a light tour during my winter break but that was less detailed and more of a "here's the good stuff" type tour. I changed into my sleep ware and settled in for the night after that. In the morning I woke early like usual and got dressed in a proper uniform that had been delivered some time during the night.-
The second year communal area was empty as I settled into an armchair beside a window and took out my notebook to get to list down the things of interest to me from the world of Dark souls. A habit I got into as my list of contacts started to reach more diverse worlds. Cyberpunk was rather in your face about what it had so that list was fairly short. One piece was a little more diverse because the author of that story threw a bunch of things together while isolating them via the islands they were on. -
Berserk had souls and that was basically all I was interested in as the rest was pretty heavily leaning on the existence of the astral realm that was unique to that world. The Myth apocalypse world was a list that I was constantly adding new entries to as Isabelle learned new things about over time. Remnant was a world that also only had a small selection of things worth looking at with the technology being one and semblances being another. Ark was also a flexible list that changed entirely based on when and where Rockwell was at any given time. Different Arks had different things in them after all so it was only fair that if he moved to a new one he'd have different things he could give me.-
Spira had a much more simple list of things. Materials, items, magics, technology and skills to be precise. The trouble with the Dark souls world was that most things there were heavily tied to concepts. There were several things that weren't mind you but a great majority were. For example Estus flasks were tied heavily to the concepts of life and flame. Take them out of that world and they may not even work anymore.-
Regardless I had to sort the useful from the potentially useless before anything else. One thing I knew for a fact I wanted however was the knowledge in Seath the scaleless's library. It was stated almost outright that he went mad while researching the depths of sorcery. That said there was exactly one thing I wanted from his knowledge above all else, his life alchemy. He created the moonlight butterflies, crystal golems and turned maidens of faith into strange snake octopus things. I wasn't sure if he also created the snake people as well but whatever the case he clearly had a mastery of life alchemy that even if not one to one stacked on this worlds version would definitely supplement it greatly.
