Summer Ford glanced at Ethan Laurent's phone screen without making a sound, noticing the name "Raine Sullivan" flashing repeatedly. She watched his reaction out of the corner of her eye.
Ethan Laurent hesitated for a moment, but eventually picked up the phone.
That action chilled Summer Ford's heart.
They arranged to have dinner, she came, so what's he up to now?
Ethan shot her a sidelong glance, then stepped aside to answer the call.
From where Summer was, she couldn't hear what Raine was saying, only Ethan's voice was audible.
He didn't talk to Raine for long, just said, "I'm a bit busy right now," and hung up.
Pocketing the phone, he returned to the table nonchalantly.
Summer Ford kept her head down as she continued eating and didn't ask him anything.
"Why don't you ask about my relationship with Raine?" Ethan asked leisurely, initiating the topic.
Summer thought to herself, isn't it just a childhood sweetheart? Who in Central City doesn't know?
