Ethan Laurent looked sharply at Summer Ford. She thought he would rudely come over and take her away from Snor Fairchild as usual, but he simply withdrew his gaze, expressionlessly.
"Let's go!" He turned his head to Raine Sullivan beside him and said lightly. Raine, holding his arm, walked alongside him to other parts of the venue.
Summer Ford stood stiffly in the distance, her gaze following their figures. Somewhere in her heart felt like it was being hollowed out, empty.
Snor Fairchild followed her gaze, glancing slightly in Ethan Laurent's direction as he left. He placed his large hand on her head and gently turned her face back to him.
"Sit down. It's free; there's no reason not to enjoy it." Pressing her down onto the seat beside him, Snor handled a pile of food for her while talking, "Do you like to hear jokes? Want to listen?"
