I slowly came to a stop in my agility training. Letting my body come back to a rest before I let my energy refill. After weeks of being out in the Forest near the capital, we had been ambushing Carriage trains once in a while. We had been targeting only those that worked with Carl, and those that did not have those companies' emblems, we would let pass without them ever knowing we were there.
Still, after weeks of being here, it might be time to move. It would probably be good to move south and move the captured supplies we took from the carriages we robbed. If not-
"Mistress Mommy! Mistress Mommy! There are ten Carriages coming this way!" Ariel called out, showing up out of nowhere and interrupting my train of thought. Her stealth showed in full force as she leaped over to me, and I grinned. "They are the emblem that you told us to look out for, Mistress Mommy!" Ariel added after a moment, and I smiled.
"You are getting smarter and smarter at reporting, Ariel. You are so good!" I announced, "Are your brother and Sister in position?" I asked, and Ariel happily nodded.
"Yes! Mistress Mommey, they are in position at the places you told us to wait, and I came to report to you. The Train is going fast, so they should be here soon!" Ariel yelled out happily, and I nodded.
"Okay, remember to talk to me without yelling each time, Ariel. What if they have sensitive ears like you?" I asked, and Ariel cutely covered her mouth and nodded. She then had to remove her paws from her mouth, and I grinned. "Go get in position, we are about to practice Banditry on our enemies," I told her, and Ariel nodded but kept quiet.
I could only smile. The Tigers were cute but extremely intelligent. They needed education and practice, but they were picking up fast. I wished that I could get them a more formal education, since although mathematics and various subjects like history might not help much in combat. It did have one critical role.
Proper thought processes.
Many of the things that changed modern humans of my past world to those of the past were this simple Education. Teaching people proper thinking and brainstorming through history, mathematics, and many other subjects helped them think through problems using a process. Whether that process was the best process was not something I was sure about. But what it did do was get rid of the absolutely stupid first thought of ancient people that if they did not understand something, then God must have done it.
The absence of something meant ignorance of what it was, not that some higher being did it. And my tigers were showing signs of that type of thinking sometimes. That Mistress Mommy must have been the one to do it, or could explain it. I wanted thinking beast pets that listened to me completely but also could act autonomously and think through their actions, which meant.
I needed to educate them.
I wonder what will happen when I start to teach them arithmetic?
As my thoughts went, I moved into position, and I could hear the sound of carriages slowly moving into the traps that we set. It was times like these that I wished that I had gone down the wizard route so I could better sense what was on the other side. I could sense B rankers at a certain close distance, but if they were trying to hide their power, I would not be able to sense it.
Still, I was a shit Wizard, and I abandoned the path for a reason.
Carriages moved slowly, and I waited as they took position, then whistled the command, and things started to happen.
The dirt road they were traveling through in this vine forest was suddenly cut off by a big tree that slammed down across the road. The guards froze for a brief moment, and I whistled. 'Attack,' my whistle announced, and my cute beasts went to work, and Freya's flute began to play.
The sound of her flute was filled with energy, and I watched as my cute tigers began to attack. They came out from different directions as the Guards looked out for enemies. They were stunned and surprised by the sudden onslaught. They did not see where the attackers came from, and, to make matters worse, Freys's flute began to put them into a daze. They would lose concentration at perilous moments as the music played over them, lulling them into forgetting what they were doing.
This was a battle, though, and the Zara, Ariel, and Rajah were playing with them. Their maws opened and ripped out throats before they could react. When they did react, they were murdered without question. Men and women tried to put up a fight, and when it looked like they might actually hit, I would whip them hard just before they did lethal damage to my cute pets.
I did not protect them from everything, though. This trip was not only to fuck over Carl. It was to train my cute Tigers in combat with each other and watch them grow. Give them experience, and they love to go after one-hit kills. Something I would have to train them out of.
"Rajah, you can go for more than the throat, remember what I told you, injuries can lead to kills later!" I announced seeing Rajah find a C-ranker that seemed to be speed-based and had good perception. It did not matter; Rajah quickly followed instructions and dispatched the guard without issue.
It was a massacre and not the first one we had inflicted in this stupid vine-filled forest. The vines provided great camouflage, though, and the guards did not like clearing the forest that often.
I watched it all, and the drivers of the carriages and the guards were swiftly murdered, and I smiled. I watched as a young man had their throat ripped out after Zara ripped out their ankle before she went for the kill. There were a lot of guards this time, but it had been pretty easy this time.
Then I frowned.
Wait, where is the B ranker?
My eyes widened, and I looked around, starting to take in my surroundings. WE had been at this for more than a week and taken out multiple carriage trains. We also let many think that we should not let this forest become a no-go zone. I wanted it to seem like bad luck with a few, and not everyone.
Suddenly, my instincts screamed, I pulled out my bladed whip, and I turned, unleashing it.
TING~!
The sound of metal hitting metal sounded, and before me, suddenly, an Incubus was face-to-face with me. Their dagger in my face, but their power was strong. Still B ranker but much stronger.
Stronger than me and the Incubus smiled. "Bad Kitty."
