Naruto: The Second Chance of Obito Uchiha

Chapter 15: Kannabi Bridge — A Test Without Their Sensei

The western front had become a battlefield where even the smallest mistake could decide the outcome of the war.

Iwagakure was no longer sending ordinary squads.

They were deploying veteran shinobi who had survived years of conflict.

Konoha needed every advantage it could find.

Inside the forward command headquarters, Minato studied the latest reports.

The atmosphere was tense.

Shikaku Nara pointed toward the western map.

"Iwagakure has moved a large force into the region."

"Approximately two thousand shinobi."

Tsunade's expression hardened.

"They're planning a full-scale assault."

Jiraiya looked at Minato.

"You're the only one who can stop that many shinobi from breaking through."

Minato nodded.

"But that means I cannot accompany Team Minato."

Kakashi, Obito, and Rin stood nearby.

They already understood.

Their mission would continue without their sensei.

Minato turned toward them.

"Kakashi."

"You will lead the Kannabi Bridge operation."

Kakashi accepted the scroll.

"Understood."

Minato looked at all three.

"The enemy protecting that bridge will not be weak."

"They know its importance."

"Expect experienced shinobi."

Minato paused.

"This mission is not about proving yourselves."

"It is about completing the objective and returning alive."

His eyes moved toward Obito.

"Protect each other."

Obito nodded.

"We will."

Minato left for the western battlefield.

A few hours later, the earth shook.

Thousands of Iwagakure shinobi advanced.

Then—

A flash appeared.

The Yellow Flash had arrived.

The battle against the 2,000 Iwa shinobi began.

Minato moved through the battlefield, but even he could not defeat an entire army instantly.

The enemy had prepared.

They used coordinated formations.

Barrier techniques.

Long-range attacks.

Minato's role was not to defeat every shinobi.

It was to break their advance and prevent them from reaching Konoha's forces.

The battlefield became a battle between numbers and speed.

Meanwhile, Team Minato approached Kannabi Bridge.

The area was heavily guarded.

Kakashi observed from the trees.

"This isn't a normal defense."

Obito activated his Sharingan.

Three tomoe rotated.

He studied the area.

"They're expecting an attack."

Rin looked concerned.

"How many?"

Obito frowned.

"At least twenty."

Kakashi narrowed his eyes.

"And the stronger ones?"

Obito looked deeper.

"There are four jonin."

The team became silent.

Four jonin.

Against three shinobi.

Even with their skills, this would be dangerous.

Kakashi looked at the mission scroll.

"We can't fight them all."

Obito nodded.

"We don't need to."

"We only need the bridge."

Rin smiled slightly.

"That's the Obito I know."

The first phase began.

Kakashi moved through the outer patrols.

His movements were precise.

But the enemy was experienced.

One Iwa chunin blocked his strike.

"You Leaf shinobi are getting careless."

Kakashi immediately changed tactics.

A quick strike.

A substitution.

A trap.

The enemy fell.

But more appeared.

Obito and Rin moved toward the bridge.

Then the ground exploded.

Two Iwa jonin appeared.

"Found you."

Their chakra pressure was overwhelming.

Obito immediately placed himself between them and Rin.

The jonin smiled.

"The Uchiha."

"We heard about your Sharingan."

Obito remained calm.

"You talk too much."

The battle began.

The first jonin attacked with Earth Style.

"Earth Style: Earth Spear!"

The ground erupted.

Obito avoided the attack, but the second jonin was already moving.

A coordinated attack.

Not one opponent.

Two.

They had trained together.

They understood each other's movements.

Obito realized quickly.

These weren't opponents he could defeat alone.

Kakashi arrived.

"Need help?"

Obito smirked.

"You're late."

Kakashi ignored him.

"Focus."

The two moved together.

For once, their rivalry disappeared.

Only teamwork remained.

Kakashi formed a hand seal.

Lightning chakra gathered in his hand.

The sound filled the battlefield.

Chidori.

The enemy jonin recognized the danger.

But Kakashi hesitated.

The technique was powerful.

Too powerful.

Without a way to predict attacks, charging blindly was dangerous.

The enemy waited.

Obito saw the opening.

"Kakashi!"

His Sharingan tracked the movement.

"Three steps right!"

Kakashi moved.

The enemy attacked where he had been.

Kakashi accelerated.

The Chidori struck.

The jonin was thrown back.

But Kakashi landed hard.

The strain was obvious.

Rin rushed to him.

"You're pushing your body too far."

Kakashi stood.

"I'm fine."

Obito looked at him.

"You're terrible at lying."

Kakashi ignored him.

But Rin was already treating his injuries.

The second jonin became more aggressive.

He attacked Obito.

The fight became intense.

Obito was forced to stop holding back.

His Sharingan tracked every movement.

His body moved with experience far beyond his age.

He used fire techniques.

Taijutsu.

Weapons.

Genjutsu.

The enemy struggled to understand.

"How can someone your age fight like this?"

Obito's expression hardened.

"Because I know what happens when I fail."

The enemy attacked with everything.

The ground collapsed.

Obito barely escaped.

For a moment, the memories returned.

The cave.

The rocks.

Rin's scream.

The pain.

But this time…

He wasn't alone.

"Kakashi."

"I'm here."

"Rin."

"Ready."

Together, they attacked.

Kakashi created the opening.

Rin disrupted the enemy's movements with precise support techniques.

Obito finished the battle.

Not alone.

As a team.

The remaining enemy forces began closing in.

They were running out of time.

Kakashi placed the final explosive tags.

"Everyone move!"

The bridge shook.

The explosion echoed across the battlefield.

Kannabi Bridge collapsed.

But victory came with a cost.

The team was exhausted.

Injured.

Surrounded.

Kakashi looked at the approaching enemies.

"We need to retreat."

Obito activated his Sharingan.

More enemies were coming.

Too many.

But they were different from before.

They were not the same children who graduated from the Academy.

They were shinobi who had survived war.

Far away, Minato felt the explosion.

The mission was complete.

But he also knew his students had crossed an important line.

They had fought without him.

They had survived without him.

Obito looked at Kannabi Bridge.

In another life, this place had taken everything from him.

This time…

It had proven something.

The future was not decided by what happened.

It was decided by what they did next.
