The false sighting had been Shev's idea, which surprised her.
He was recovering — the bandages still wrapped his midsection, his color not quite right yet — but his mind had been sharper than usual these past two days, probably because he couldn't move fast enough to act on anything and had been forced to think instead.
"The old textile district," he'd said, looking at the rough map Cail had drawn of the city's patrol routes. "There's an abandoned cathedral there. The roof is accessible from three sides, the interior is dark even at midday, and it sits in a zone that Anthony's people haven't fully mapped yet."
"You want me to let someone see me there," she'd said.
"I want someone to think they saw you there," he'd corrected.
She'd smiled at that. He was learning.
He had acted based on what she had mentioned in passing, which was interesting to see.
