Chapter 167: Beneath Quiet Waters
Black Moon Town,
Just Outside the Manor,
Torug's POV,
The caravan came in a little past midday, six wagons deep, and even from the manor steps I could see the shimmer coming off wooden barrels.
The mana dust packed tight enough that the air around it hadn't fully settled.
Janetta was hanging playfully beside the lead wagon instead of riding it, which told me she wanted to be seen arriving rather than simply arrive.
"My Chief," she said lightly as she dropped down from the wagon's side and gave a playful bow that fooled absolutely no one.
"That's a lot of dust," I said, looking past her at the wagons.
"That's four weeks worth of the mines working properly instead of half-heartedly," she said. "Whoever you are supplying is going to owe you a very polite letter...Along with a reward."
I signaled Dabok over before she'd finished the sentence. He came at his usual unhurried pace.
"You know the roads to Degr," I said. It wasn't a question.
