Chapter 389 - Respect

Night had fallen completely by the time the group made camp.

The forest, once roaring with battle, now breathed in quiet hums. The crackle of fire, the chirping of crickets, the distant rush of the river.

Darenn sat by the fire pit, his earth magic forming neat stones around the flames. Irving busied himself with fixing the cooking pot, muttering to himself as sparks of lightning accidentally zapped the stew.

"Careful, you'll electrocute dinner again," Beau called from his spot, lying lazily on a log as Elenea took on the cooking after he sliced and diced the ingredients.

"Irving says that was one time," the professor replied dryly.

Aranea giggled as she helped Aerin bandage Leonel's arm. "It still tasted funny, though."

"It tingled," Leonel agreed, deadpan.

Aerin grinned. "Free stimulation. Irving says 'you're welcome' for sure."

Zann rolled his eyes. "If it happens again, I'm eating raw berries."
