Taegong snorted. "As if!"
His earlier fear briefly gave way to irritation. "She behaves as though she's superior to everyone, despite being connected to the Hopeful Star Pavilion herself!"
Zhenyu watched him. "So it isn't her?"
"No!" Taegong shook his head firmly. "The woman I report to is someone else."
Lin Mu considered the answer. 'That reduces the suspicion surrounding Clarity Peak Head.'
It was not definitive proof of her innocence, but Taegong's immediate reaction seemed genuine. Furthermore, the Grand Elder had already explained that the Clarity Peak Head's former master had been among the innocent members associated with the Pavilion.
Her connection to its history did not necessarily imply involvement in its present activities.
"Then who is the woman?" Zhenyu asked.
Taegong hesitated. "I don't know her true identity."
Zhenyu's expression darkened.
