Turns out Roan was right. The Empire, using that tear connected to The Echo, created a small ripple that attracted the Primordial Demon Beasts. The Echo sensed danger, contacted Default, who passed the orders forward. Because Default can interact a little with The Echo, and he can't go against its wishes, he also made sure the other Primordial Demon Beasts couldn't refuse to help.
Thus, they all ended up attacking the Werdlem Empire. They didn't know what they were looking for, just that the problem was there. Default mentioned that the Empire was trying to create some kind of new Echo, but that was obviously not the case. They were trying to take control of the existing one. Anyway, if the twelve pillars joined forces to create the necessary ripples, they could have the empire collapse. That, in theory, should have resolved the danger.
