The attack was scary, and it was driving us crazy. Above our heads, the tin roof groaned. It sounded heavy, like big, wet, and heavy sacks were being dragged across the metal. It was loud and annoying, the constant scratching of sharp claws against the tin that made my teeth hurt. Mixed with the scratching were heavy thuds as the creatures moved around, looking for a way in. And the noises they made... low, wet clicking sounds and strange chirps that shook the ceiling boards and made me shiver.
"They are playing with us," Mama whispered. She was gripping a bag of salt so hard her knuckles were white. "Like a cat with a mouse."
Suddenly, a wet slap echoed from the center of the ceiling. A small knot in the wood suddenly popped open from the attack. Immediately, something thin and dark purple slimy long muscular like thing shot through the hole. It was shiny with spit and wiggled in the air like a snake, feeling around for warmth. It was an Aswang's tongue.
