The way towards the Local Guild Hall wasn't far. All Moonshine had to do was take a left at the bar, and walk pass the flower shops and butcheries on the left and right for a block. Then, she would end up at a three-way intersection: On the left is the Town Market, where NPC's and Players could sell their wares. To the right was where you could find the blacksmith's forgery and weapon shops, and at the end of that street would be a two-story building with a large sign on the second floor wall spelling out 'Guild.' The reason for the two-stories is this: the ground floor was where you could choose your quests and jobs, and the second floor was where the injured resided.
Satisfy doesn't have the best system when it comes to medicine, but almost all an adventurers need is a large flow of healing liquid. With that, any injury that isn't serious(like a missing eye or a torn limb) can be healed in less than an hour. That said, they don't do dunk you for free for free.
'I remember my first time on those tubs upstairs,' reminisced Moon. 'The moment I reached level 100 and figured out my class quest, I ran here. But then, I got attacked by some hobgoblins and sand birds, and was completely dismantled. Fortunately--- or should I say unfortunately--- a soldier squadron that was patrolling the area found me and shooed away/killed the monsters. I was taken to the Guild's second floor and was dunked in the healing tubs. Once I was healed I thanked everyone. But---'
"That's where they charged me my soul as compensation(practically)," She said out-loud. "And with a smile the whole time."
She trudged on and arrived in front of the Wooden building wearing the sign 'Guild.' With a sigh, she walked in.
The Local Guild--- like the town--- wasn't very impressive. From about the middle to the back of the large room, was the mahogany counter where people would ask questions to the receptionists, or possibly post their own quests. And order drinks. Like a guild should.
And that counter was easily the most expensive thing in that room. To the left and the right of the half-moon shaped counter were various oak tables, with three oak seats at each table. The seats and tables were painted painted a nice gray, and the floor was a beige-colored oak. After the Mahogany, everything was made oak.
At the left and right walls were the quest boards. In Satisfy, the quest system of usually worked with an NPC giving a Player a quest. But in Local guilds, NPCs would still give quests, but they were usually in abundance and repeatable, and besides the first time completion, the rewards weren't anything to write home about.
And that's how Local Guilds worked. They were mostly for low-leveled players, so nobody really talked about them 'outside.' And on the right side of every local guild(or so Moon heard), in the corner, there was always some old guy.
No matter if they were male of female, the Ex-Drill Sergeant was always old. In this specific Local Guild, it was a man that seemed to be in his early 50s. His hair seemed to just start to gray, and he had some small but noticeable wrinkles around his eyes and forehead. He also seemed to always be slouching. Moon has only ever talked to the man once, and that was because it was mandatory once she arrived at the Guild.
'To be honest, I barely even remember what he said.' She shook her head. 'Well let's just hope something happens once I bring up the words 'special training.' Moon had some idea of how quest acquirement worked in Satisfy. 'If I'm correct, all I have to do is talk to him for a bit, and then slowly bring up the topic.'
"If there's something I am confident about, it's bringing out the words I want from people; it's my job, after all," she murmured, shaking off all of her nervousness.
She started walking towards him, bob and weaving between the tables and people sitting at them. She called out to him. "Mr. Sergeant!"
Seeming to be in his own world, the old man suddenly jumped when hearing his name called. He looked around, and locked eyes--- or at least where he thought the boy's eyes were; the bangs were awfully long---with Moonshine. He snapped, "That's EX-Sergeant, now. I'm retired!"
Moon finally arrived in front of him. "Ah yes, I must of forgotten that. I apologize sir," she said with a slight bow.
The EX-Sergeant blushed a bit. "Oh, it's just a small reminder, young fella. Now, what brings you to me?"
She threw out her bait. "Well, Sir. I recently got to town, and have been constantly hearing about your name, and your great exploits." She buttered him up. "To be honest, I just wanted to hear about some stories from your days back when you trained the town's soldiers, if you don't mind."
"Hmm." He thought for a second. "Well, I suppose I don't mind. So, what certain 'stories' do you want me to tell, young one?"
"Just whatever you find the most interesting, sir," Moonshine replied with a smile.
