CONNOR'S POV:
It was four in the morning when my only trusted friend knocked on my bedroom door. A part of me wanted to scream at him for making me leave my mate but knowing Nick he has a good reason for it. He motions his head to the side and starts walking down towards the secret office we use to discuss business about the kingdom. " Nick can you tell me what this is about? All of the financials are in order and every problem with the rest of the kingdom is being taken care of I mean it might not be as fast as I would like but the amount of arguments our people have over the smallest things is ridiculous."
" That's not what this is about. The kingdom heard about the vampire king's mate being in the castle and are demanding that he and his mate present themselves. They want to know who the king is, everyone wants to meet you and I don't know how much time you have left before it turns violent." My mind spaces out after hearing what my best friend just told me. I'm not ready to present myself and Sophia is still in her heat. If we decide to show the kingdom who we are and aren't halfway done with the mating process my enemies will take the opportunity to attack.
"I can't do that, she isn't ready and neither am I. This is to much for her to handle in such a small amount of time. I need you to hold a meeting and tell the people that when the time is right I will present myself and the future queen of the kingdom." I make my way towards the mahogany desk and sit down in the chair. Grabbing a pen and some paper I get to work on my speech that nick will give during the meeting. Despite me being the king I have to attend the meeting and blend into the crowed like I always have.
I hand the letter to my bestfriend for a proof read:
To my loving subjects,
I understand the frustration you all may feel about my lack of appearance and am sure that you are anxious to meet me as well as your future queen. It is rare for a vampire not with royal blood to have a mate so you all may not understand what we are currently going through. I, your king ask that you my loyal subjects keep the finding of my mate secret until we officially introduce ourselves. I do not ask this to be selfish, I simply ask as a way to protect our kingdom from any and all possible attacks. Trust me as you have all these years and we will not be defeated or doused in sadness and mourning as with the loss of my beloved parents. With this beautiful and powerful women by my side that I believe you will all love as much as I we will rise and once again place fear into those who dare attack us during our hard times. We shall make them fear us and keep all we love safe and close to us as possible, once again I apologize for not yet making in appearance and appreciate your patience.

" Do you think that this will satisfy our people and give my mate more time to come to terms with everything or should I try and write a new letter?" I ask standing up and beginning to pace back and forth once again. " You need to stop worrying the letter is more than enough to please your subjects, now may I suggest that you go back to your mate and get some more sleep, you look like hell." I laugh at my friends joke before checking that no one is in the hallway through the hidden camera.
I practically lung myself back into bed with my mate along with the others. I should definitely get a bigger bed if we're going to be forced to sleep like this again any time soon. Taking a small piece of the blanket I lay it over my legs slightly shivering because Sophia is stretched out on the majority of it. " Pssst, is anyone else awake and cold or is it just me?" I laugh a little when all the guys raise their hands. Slowly making my way out of the bed to grab more blankets from the closet Sophia awakes from her sleep grabbing my arm and yanking me so hard that I fell to the floor. "Don't leave me, it hurts when you leave." Two things are going through my mind. One; dam she's strong, and two; she sounded so sad.
I don't know what to do, I don't want her mad at me especially not with the strength she has right now. "Um guys one of you has to get the blankets, I'm occupied at the moment " the grip on my arm tightens and I swear that I could hear a warning growl. I slide myself back into the bed putting my arms around Sophia and start swinging my hand to hit one of the guys. " NO, I am not doing it I'd rather freeze my ass off then get body slammed like you." Great just my luck Jacob's more scared of her than me. Hearing a loud sigh Tucker slides out of the bed picking up Sophia in the process. I quickly pull the blanket completely off the bed before he lays her back down. Now with all of us completely covered I manage to go back to sleep.
Sophia's POV:
We spent the remainder of the week in the spacious room with the windows open letting in the cool breeze. As much as the guys wanted to leave they all stayed by my side during one of the most painful times I've had to endure. This bedroom became my safe space, I began to feel like home and it was almost natural spending time with all of the guys. The moon goddess has yet to visit me again probably due to the excessive moodiness I feel every five seconds.
Me and all of the guys have had some pretty personal conversations but I still haven't found the strength to tell them what my father did to me all these years. The only problem with this arraignment is that we haven't talked about the process we have to do in order to complete the mating bond. I can see the lust in their eyes and am more than grateful for none of them acting on it.
With my heat coming to an end I know that things are going to change, they all have people to take care of and more importantly we all need to start attending school again to graduate. " Earth to Sophia you in there....hello" I snap out of my thought and turn to see the guys with breakfast laid out on the bed. " I know you like looking out the window but your foods getting cold do you plan on eating anytime soon So-So?" I smile at the childhood nickname and make my way over to the bed. Like second nature the guys hand me the tv remote prepared to watch whatever I put on.
"Hey wait a minute I thought it was my turn to pick" Jacob says with a frown on his face. We all look at him and burst into laughter due to his childish behavior. " Dude no one wants to sit here and watch horror movies with gore while they eat breakfast. Especially not at 8 in the morning" Tucker says.
After all this time I've spent with the guys and getting to know them during this process. I've started to care about them more than I ever have before. Jacob can be a big baby when things don't go his way but will be there in an instant if someone needs them. Connor protects everyone in his realm without them knowing it and is only acknowledged as another vampire that lost their family during the wars. Tucker is sweet and caring, he listens to everything you have to say and has a way of making you comfortable to open up.
Xavier is a little hot headed and can be a jerk sometimes. But once you start a conversation with him and ask about his past experiences only then will you realize why he's the way he is. But even through all of the things he's been through he still believes in true love and even showed me some really cool spells he learned over the years.
