Chapter 2 - °Two•House in the tree°

I took a seat on the sofa in the living room. Rhea had brought me back to her house after saving me from those mean spirits. Houses are in tree trunks. Her house is very near to the place where I had an accident.

When I first entered, it was all wood. It slowly turned and morphed into a living capacity. It's almost like we've shrunk. It's small and cozy. A small coffee table accompanied by two light pink sofas on the left and right of it. A drawer with quite some pictures is placed at the front of the coffee table.

A hallway leads to the kitchen on the left and a mini library with a small toilet on the right. Before the hallway, a little after the living room, there's a small flight of stairs leading to the second floor which is where the rooms are located. One master bedroom, one normal bedroom, and one empty room.

I tapped my fingers on the coffee table and made some weird beats. Rhea is in the kitchen, she said she'll cook for us. I'm not sure if I'm even able to eat spirit stuff.

"I'm sure you have a lot of questions for me," Rhea said from the kitchen counter. I jumped slightly, not expected her to say anything at all. I regained my composure, opening my mouth to speak.

"Yeah, I do have a lot of questions that need answers," I said. She came out of the kitchen and placed a plate of macaroni and cheese on the table in front of me. She placed another plate down on the opposite side. Then, she headed in and came back out after a few seconds holding two cups of tea.

"You cook human?" I asked. Wait, that question sounds wrong, "Oh u-um that's not what I-I meant,.. um... You know, like cook, um human food,... li-like humans.... yeah," I corrected myself awkwardly. She giggled at my stuttering.

Placing them down, she sat right in front of me. "First of, yes, spirits do eat, just slightly different from humans. Most, if not, all Eastern spirits take in the smell and essence of the food to eat it, they don't shove it down their throats. Some of them eat straight from their stomach. Western spirits eat depending on what kind of spirits are they. Some eat like humans, some eat like animals, and some just eat with different body parts," she explained quickly before I was able to ask any more questions.

I nodded, taking a spoon of mac and cheese, leading it to my mouth. I hummed in delight as that tasteful dish make its way to all my taste buds.

"This is good!" I said. She smiled. "Of course, I made it," she said cockily. I rolled my eyes and smiled at her.

I looked at her. Her eyes glimmer ever so slightly as it closes a little when she smiled. A dimple forms on her right cheek. Her lips crook at the top right as she smiles, her teeth are arranged cutely with two front teeth like usual but the side teeth grew slightly smaller. Her wavy brunette hair is tied up in a messy bun.

"Excuse me?" She called out. I blinked a few times, I didn't realize I was staring. A tint of pink crept up to my cheeks. "You do know it's rude to stare, right?" she asked teasingly. I laughed nervously.

"Especially if it's without permission," she continued. I raised an eyebrow, "You're saying I can stare if I asked?"

She burst out laughing, "I'm kidding!"

Oh my God. I want to dig a hole and die right now. I glared at her. Her laugher died down slowly and her serious face came back, "seriously, it's rude to stare, eat your food."

I ate in silence. "What questions do you have for me?" she asked. I looked up at her and looked back at my food.

"Why did you choose to bless me?" I asked. She snickered, "out of so many questions, you choose that?"

"What?" I said, looking at her, slightly offended. I looked back at my food right after. "Nothing. I choose to bless you because I was bored, you seemed good looking and I was hoping you're someone fun."

"Hoping?" I looked at her square in the eyes and raised an eyebrow, "am I not fun?"

She looked at me and raised the same eyebrow as I did, "are you? I don't think so."

"You don't know me enough to say!" I defended myself. She burst out into another fit of laugher. I rolled my eyes and glared at her.

"Okay, okay," she put her hands up and calmed down. "How about this, you stay with me for a hundred days, and whatever relationship we have after this hundred days stays that way. However, if there's nothing between us, you can leave."

I placed my utensils down and leaned back. I crossed my arms and gave it a thinking moment. Do I or do I not? Should I or should I not?

I glanced at her, she's waiting for an answer. It's gonna be a new experience for me. I think I should just agree? Should I? Hmm...

I've decided, I placed my hands on the table and faced her, "Bring it on."

She clasped her hands together and smiled widely, "great! I knew you couldn't say no to me."

"I just thought this will add some spice into my boring life is all," I said. I continued to eat to finish up quickly.

"Question though, where will I stay?" I asked. She pointed up. "Huh?" I am confused.

"In the second bedroom, idiot," she said, sighing at my cluelessness. "You don't have to go back to get your clothes either, just think about what you want to wear and open the cupboard, it'll be there then."

That's incredible, I can think about any clothing and it'll be there, interesting.

"Are you done eating? Do you want to eat that plate too?" Rhea asked. I blinked and looked down, I'm hitting the plate. It's empty as well. I placed the utensils down and pushed the plate towards her, "Thanks for the meal."

"You can head on upstairs to check the room out if you want," she said leaving towards the kitchen. I got up and headed upstairs.

"Which one?" I yelled from upstairs. "The one on the right!"

I nodded and headed to the room on the right. I opened it and it was, well, very woody. The walls, the floor, the ceiling, the pieces of furniture are all wood.

Well, idiot, this is in a tree, I mentally facepalmed myself. I looked around and it looks aesthetic. I went to the bed and sat down on it, it's soft and warm. I let myself fall back onto the bed and closed my eyes.
