Chapter 49 - Conto 49: Thy Will Be Done

"She's not doing well. I'm exhausted. I go to the hospital every single day," Alex said, his voice heavy with weariness.

"I'll pray for both of you. May God renew your strength every day," I replied sadly as we walked through the company's hallways.

"Amen! Thank you so much, Ana!"

When I arrived home, I had a vision.

I saw Alex's mother gazing upon the world of the dead. She was seated in a chair, looking out over green hills, open fields, trees, and a golden sun shining in the distance.

Then an angel spoke:

"She is tired of suffering. She wishes to leave, but she keeps thinking of her son..."

The next morning, I found Alex and asked about his mother.

"She's worse. She's sedated and taking the newest generation of antibiotics in an attempt to control the infection," he said through tears.

"Alex, you have to let your mother go. Do you hear me?" I said firmly.

"Yes," he murmured.

"You're not letting her go. She's suffering, and she still hasn't left because of you," I warned him.

"Yes."

"She wants to leave. She needs to rest—and so do you. Talk to her. In a situation like this, she may still be able to hear you."

"I will talk to her," he whispered.

"You need to pray like this: 'May her will be done, and God's will as well.'"

"Yes."

"You know things continue on the other side. You'll see each other again someday. All of us will."

"You, me, everyone. We all will—and none of us knows when," he agreed, his voice steadier now.

"You have to let her go. Trust God."

"Yes."

The following day, Alex sat beside me with his head bowed.

"And your mother?"

"My mother is very ill. Very ill. I told her she could rest... amen," he confessed, crying.

"If you need anything, I'm here. May I ask God, if it is His will and hers, to let her go in peace?" I asked, because I needed his permission.

"Yes, you may. Thank you. Amen."

We returned to our work in the office.

For a year, we had prayed for his mother's health, and God had sustained her. But over the past few weeks, her condition had worsened, remaining critical.

I woke in the middle of the night, recited the Lord's Prayer, and began to pray:

"Lord, forgive my sins. Please give me the right words for this prayer."

I knelt down and wept at God's feet.

Then I felt an angel arrive.

"God, if it is Your will for her to go, send Your angels to accompany her. She wishes to leave. Let the angels surround her and take her by the hand, so that she may be released from her body without suffering. God, let her begin her new journey in peace. Send more angels to comfort Alex and give him strength. Once again, may Your will be done, and hers as well. Thank You, Lord. Amen."

And the angel departed.

The next day, Alex's mother finally found her rest.
