Chapter 148 - Many Slips ’Twixt the Cup and the Lip

'Ahhh… how could I forget those days when I wished I were a human. Etching in my mind that the idea of freedom was within them. With their lifespan that stretches no thinner than a hair strand; fleshy yet warm bodies that are no frailer than sea foams in the midst of tempestuous streak of wavering Fate; and yet to live to the fullest, they seem capable of accomplishing such. Is it because the thought that they'll die at some point in their uncertain lives continues to haunt them? That way, they are willing not to fritter a second away?'

'No. I don't think that is the case. Because humans are, by instinct, forgetful creatures. They, more often than I'd like to admit, forget that tomorrow might bring their deaths—heck, who knows, maybe even the present would! Yet here they are… well, at least one of their kin… one that I know, and is about to 'forget' his own death in order to save the life of others.'
