The two women stopped bickering when the steady rhythm of the heart monitor suddenly spiked. The beeping turned rapid, frantic. Nurses rushed to the bedside, eyes locked on the rising numbers on the screen.
"His heart rate is unstable!" someone yelled.
The bed was unlocked, wheels squeaking as they rushed him down the hallway toward the ER, alarms echoing behind them.
"D-Dad! Wake up, please!" Yvienna screamed, clinging to the bed's rails. Ayla ran beside her, panic and tears flooding her cheeks.
"You can't enter, Miss. I'm sorry," a nurse said, closing the ER doors.
Yvienna leaned back against the wall, crying into her palm. Her breath turned heavy, her chest tightening as anxiety spiked.
"W-Will he be okay?" Ayla tried to step closer, but froze when Yvienna's glare cut through her.
"This is all your fault! What did you do to him?!" Yvienna grabbed Ayla's arm.
Ayla winced, trying to pull back, but Yvienna's grip was too strong.
