She's hiding something and doesn't want him to know; it's her secret.
If he showed up now, it would only trouble her.
"So, you show up two hours early to be this stone statue gazing at the wife's path, all so she doesn't see you?" Jace Pierce couldn't grasp their couple's mood.
He even doubted if they were really a couple.
