On hearing this, Kane Townsend almost twisted his ankle.
Jace Pierce exited the elevator, the doors closed, leaving a dumbfounded Jessica Sullivan behind.
Kane realized he had become Jace's scapegoat.
"Letting her misunderstand like this, she'll target me."
"You're afraid she'll target you?"
"Not afraid." She just found it troublesome.
"After helping you so many times, it's your turn to step up." Jace raised an eyebrow.
Kane fell silent.
He had already said it, no saving face now.

Kane arrived at the apartment and entered the passcode.
Jace stood behind, quietly memorizing the numbers.
Entering the apartment, Jace placed the bags on the coffee table.
"Thanks for the hard work." Kane poured him a glass of water.
Jace leaned back on the sofa lazily, half-closing his eyes, "Such a big bag of things, I'm exhausted and hungry."
"Didn't you eat enough in the private room?"
"Filled with anger."
