Time passed, years flew by and Valkorai, unwillingly she grew a close bond with Sikun, Mogro and Pokin. Now they are ten years old they stood in front of a massive white building made out of marble. Today was the day, that they were going to be tested for the elemental level and their talents. Every year children all over the city are brought to this building and are tested. The owners of this building are the overlords of this city, a branch of one of the most powerful sects the Wondrin sect. They use this building to grow their power base. They invite the most promising talents into their sect.
Valkorai was standing in the cold with her mother, watching all the other children after all this city was her first stepping stone and these children were going to be the people she will be competing with. She saw Sikun on his own and Mogro and Pokin with their mothers, they were all concerned and scared. The doors flew open and 3 men in white stood inside. In the middle, there was a surprisingly powerful old-man, he turned around and walked in as the parents rushed forward. Pushing and pulling trying to get to the front of the line. Valkorai and her mother didn't rush. They ended up in the middle and Sikun was pushed behind and was pulled in by Mira. "Sikun where is your father?" she asked as she held his hand.
"He has better things to do then bring me here. He says that cultivation is a waste of time if you are poor." Sikun had a dejected look on his face. Everyone knows that your parents need to be there for this or they will not even let you in the door. "Then you are my brother today," Valkorai whispered int his ear.
An hour later they finally entered the building and the judges and the old-man had a tired and uninterested face.'It seems that they came across a lot of mediocre talents today. Hopefully, I don't bring too much attention. Having too many eyes on you can be a bad thing.' They sat down and waited for their number to be called. "Val, how are you not nervous? This is our future right here. What element do you think I will awaken? What element do you want to awaken? I can not wait." Sikun said while looking around and bouncing up and down like a ball of excitement. Valkorai chuckled "Being nervous is useless right now, nothing right now is in my power. Talent means nothing many experts have reached the peak of this continent. With how you are acting you will probably going to awaken get lightning. I do not care as long as I do not awaken light or dark."
Time passed and Sikun was called up to the platform by a black-robed man with red hair. He walked up to the platform and he looked at the clear spirit stone. His hand shook with excitement and nervousness as he placed his hand on the stone. A black-robed man directed Sikun on what to do while his hand was on the stone. Slowly the spirit stone glowed blue with power. "Element lightning, talent medium." the black-robed man's voice boomed. A smile spread itself across Sikun's face, a medium talent was good. Most of the people who came today had low talents so a medium talent would stand out, even his element lightning is quite rare in this country. However, he was still unable to draw the attention of the white robbed men that opened the door earlier.
"Next, Number 292." the man said as Valkorai stood up and walked to the platform. She gave Sikun a congratulating smile as she nonchalantly placed her hand on the spirit stone. The stone seemed to emit an energy that entered her body. She used her soul to discreetly manipulate it. The black-robed man gave her directions that she ignored as she already knew how spirit stones worked. Soon the white stone shone with crimson light and it grew more and more powerful. After a while, Valkorai cut off her connection with the spirit stone leaving her talent test unfinished. "Element Fire, Talent medium."
As they left the building Valkorai and Sikun saw Morgo and Pokin standing in a corner rolling a huge ball of snow. "Whatsup, what did you guys get? I got fire and Morgo got water. Both of us have low talents." Pokin said while rolling his ball over to them. "I got lightning and Val got fire too. Let's go to the library, we can probably find out how to cultivate there." Sikun said as the ran off towards the library, Valkorai looked at her mother and said "I am going with them too mother, I will come home at sunset." and ran off after the three.
When they got into the library Valkorai was sitting behind the booth reading a book. "We are going to use a room upstairs Aunt Valkorai," they raced upstairs. They entered a small room and sat around a table, Sikun, Morog and Pokin looked at Valkorai expectantly. "What?" She asked as they kept staring at her.
"How do we cultivate?" Sikun started
"Do you know any cultivation techniques?" Morog continued
"What realms of cultivation are there?" Pokin finished
"Cultivation is simple but also hard. The only part you need to concern yourself is the first part. The first two realms are the foundations of the foundations. The first realm is the body refinement realm. Every respectable cultivation technique has its own way of refining the body but there are some similarities you refine your bone, your organs and your blood. Pokin the realms of cultivations go from the body refinement realm, spirit refinement, qi control realm, soul realm, manifestation realm, earth realm, sky realm, rinzana realm. There are more after but you do not need to worry about that getting to rinzana is hard enough. About cultivation techniques, why do you think I have any?" Valkorai said as she sat down.
"Errrrrr. I don't know." Morog answered dejectedly. Valkorai looked at him with a grin on her face. "Yeah, I have some. Memorise them and tell nobody of these techniques." 'Morog and Pokin have little potential and talent. If I were to give them top tier techniques it will only bring them trouble. Sikun has a lot more potential than both and will need the trouble a powerful technique will bring.' Valkorai thought.
"Morog this is called the 'Seven Seas technique'. Memorise it and I will show you the exercises for the body refinement. Pokin this is called the 'Burning Ode'. Memorise it and I will show you the exercises for the body refinement. Sikun this is the 'Thousand Thunder Path'. It is very dangerous and will bring you a lot of trouble but is a very powerful technique, if you do not want it I can give you a safer option."
"Bring it I take all the world throws at me!" Sikun answered without hesitation. Valkorai smiled as she told him the cultivation technique. Now she had to pick a fire-related cultivation technique for herself. She thought back on her life as Zaatox remembering every cultivation technique she found and narrowed it down to 2 different techniques.
The Nine Hell Flames technique or The Way of the World Scorching Flame. They both equally as fast as each other and will result in achieving a similar strength when fully cultivated. They have an equal amount of pitfalls in the way that will lead to crippling and even death. The only real things to consider is the style one would have when cultivating the technique and the power of the flames.
The Nine Hell Flames technique you will go through nine different hell flames each one stronger than the last. Valkorai remembered the strength of the previous Lord of fire, Loie, she had many clashes with him before they both became Lords. His Area control and battle techniques were unrivalled and he would often sit back as his flames but anyone who would even try get close to him. The Way of the World Scorching Flame, however, is relatively unknown to anyone, as Valkorai won it in an inheritance ground. The expert that created this technique must have been absurdly strong to have made it but had faded to the recesses of time, just like the Lord of chaos before the one Valkorai killed to obtain her title.
'The previous Lord of fire and Dubi's battle was a legendary one to watch, even if he ultimately lost the Nine Hell Flames will go down as one of the strongest fire cultivation techniques. But it's style does not suit my tastes and Dubi had already defeated the strongest user. I doubt that I would be able to master this technique better than Loie, and even if I could Dubi would already know its weakness. Defending against someone who knows where to attack is infinitely harder than defending against someone who does not know your weaknesses. It seems like I shall go with The Way of the World Scorching Flame. It seems taking part of that inheritance battle was useful after all.'
"Guys we should meet here next week and test our cultivations against each other. This will get us used to our limits faster and will help us in our test to enter the Wondrin sect." Sikun proposed breaking Valkorai's chain of thought. "I shall leave first, I can not wait to try this out. Thank you, Val." Soon the other two left, they were all eager to start cultivating. 'It seems I have chosen some pretty good people to befriend. It was all based on a chance meeting as well. Fate is a strange thing.' Valkorai mused as she left the library and headed home.
Once she got home she started to cultivate. She sat on the ground and started with the breathing technique from The Way of the World Scorching Flame. She felt the breath warm her body as it swirled inside her. The warmth spread to her bones as they blasted out with searing pain. 'Ahhh, I have missed cultivation, so soothing.' For millennia, she dreamt of the begging of her cultivation and now she was blessed to reexperience it after so long. She was so ingrained into her cultivation she did not notice her parents come in and go to sleep. Two days passed when Valkorai was satisfied with her progress.
Valkorai left her house and walked out into the forest, this was a spot she chose to test out her cultivation. She found a bolder triple her size. Looking it up and down she smirked 'This will be good enough.' She spread out her legs and sunk low. She breathed in. With a twist of her hip, her fist blasted out and smashed into the bolder. Boom. On the surface of the bolder was a small crack. 'Good progress two days and I am almost at the first level of body refinement.' Valkorai spent the rest of the day exercising and understanding what exactly her new body was capable. When she got tired she cultivated and after a few hours stood up to test herself again. She quickly found out her body was vastly weaker to her old self when she was just starting out. 'Mortal bodies are so weak compared to demon bodies. It is to be expected but it still sucks. At this rate, I should reach the spirit refinement realm in four years. This cultivation technique is insanely fast.'
