She had a gift; she learned to paint a person's portrait in a very short time, and after separating from Jimmy Tate, she painted many portraits of Poppy.
There was one of Poppy sleeping soundly with her eyes closed, one where she opened a small slit in her eyes, and one showing her crying anxiously...
All this was painted based on her memory at the time, and because she was too exhausted from learning painting during her postpartum period, she developed some postpartum ailments.
Especially her wrist, which at times inexplicably lost strength. All of this was worthwhile, at least for documenting Poppy's look on the day she was born.
Because she was afraid as time passed, she would grow old, and her memories would fade, making her forget some important people and things unwillingly, hence her relentless efforts.
Unfortunately, she didn't know what Poppy looked like smiling with her eyes open; the newborn always smiled inadvertently while sleeping with her eyes closed.
