Tessa Caldwell watched him slightly purse his lips, like the arc of a smile, but on closer inspection, it didn't quite seem that way.
"Don't like it? If you don't like it, just forget it," she said, reaching out to pull off the ribbons on her.
Faye stretched out his long arm and pulled her into his embrace: "This is my favorite gift I've received."
"Really!"
Faye blocked her lips, giving her a fierce kiss before letting go, his gaze deep: "Even though it's my favorite, I actually really want another birthday gift from you."
"What other gift?" Tessa looked into his serious eyes, her gaze shifted, as if pondering what other birthday gift he desired.
He reached out to touch her stomach: "Here? Why has there been no movement?"
Tessa instantly understood what gift he wanted.
The last time they discussed the issue of having children, things became tense. Her stance was clear; she didn't want kids right now.
