Chapter 19 - Chapter 17: (No sir...)

"Really?"

{Hostile Intent is close by.}

I could feel my teeth grind together as I peered down from the balcony. Besides the wandering zombies and the occasional dead body, I could make out two silhouettes running in the darkness. One was a middle-aged man, while the other was a young girl with bright pink hair. I focused my attention on the two, watching them stop, and go through a metal gate towards a house.

My eyes narrowed as the man started banging on the door. The door eventually opened, and relief flooded the man's face, but then his body stiffened and he gazed down towards his chest. I followed his gaze and saw a spear piercing his chest.

(Damn.)

The man stumbled back and fell down onto the lawn, while the girl, started to cry. My eyes swept the road and could see countless zombies, turning their heads, and making their way to the crying child.

"Teresa."

[.....]

I smiled wryly and said, "What's wrong." Teresa gave off a loud sigh before saying in a sultry voice, [When this is over...you better be ready~.] I swallowed and said, "What do you mean?" As those words left my lips, a warm feeling embraced my entire body, as a soothing voice whispered near my ear.

"Just wait and see~."

I shuddered, as blood reached up into my face, but I quickly shook it off and stepped up onto the balcony railing. Feeling the wind brush against my face, I closed my eyes and leaned my head back.

"Atal?"

I peered over my shoulder and saw Saya looking up at me with wide eyes. I smiled and said, "I'll be back."

"Eh?"

I jumped forward and listened to Saya scream in panic as I fell down and landed against the paved road below. There was no sound, the force was negated, and cracked the paved road underneath me.

{Host, hostile intent drawing near I advised immediate action.}

"I know."

I dashed forward and made my way toward the house in the distance. Occasionally, a zombie would wander in my path, but I would quickly kill them, with a punch or a kick to the head. Rearing my arm back I punched a zombie in the head as its head exploded in a mixture of blood and brain matter. Ignoring the blood coating my arm and face. I quickly leaped into the air, and with my feet tucked in, dropkicked a zombie as it made its way towards the metal gate.

It slid across the paved road, leaving a trail of blood before it slowed to a halt. I tore my gaze away from it and made my way through the metal gate. Hearing the small sniffles of a child, I looked to my right and saw the girl kneeling next to her dead father. Beside her, I could make out a small white dog, with large brown eyes, and long floppy black ears as it growled at me.

Hearing the dogs growl, the girl looked up and gazed at me with tear-stricken eyes.

"Hic* My daddy!"

I swallowed a large lump in my throat as tears started to brim in my eyes. I don't have a lot of things that make me sad, but when I see a young child, sitting next to their dead parent.

It gets to me...

I wiped the tears away from my eyes and gazed up at the line of dried-out laundry swaying in the wind. I grabbed a large white bedsheet and slowly draped it over the dead father's body. I stepped back and gazed down at the red mark blooming through the white sheets. A small hand grabbed mine and I squeezed back as the little girl pressed her face against my arm. Sighing, I gently gave her a firm squeeze before smiling down at her and saying, "What's your name?"

Even though I already knew it...

"A-Alice."

"Alice...That's a beautiful name."

Alice's tear-stricken face brightens as she smiled up at me. Seeing her bright smile, I chuckled at her but saw movement at the house. Turning towards the window, I saw a face peering out, and I instantly gave them a cold look. They quickly vanished behind the curtain, and voices could be heard, sounding desperate and afraid. I smirked at them before kneeling down next to Alice, grabbing her other hand, I looked up into her eyes.

"Do you want to come with me?"

Alice gazed into my eyes as they slowly wandered towards her father. A melancholy looked appeared within her eyes, before she looked back, and smiled up at me.

"Yes, I would mister!"

[She's a strong young lady.]

Agreeing with Teresa within my mind. I looked back to the metal gate I saw a horde of undead, various grotesque hands, reaching through. Gazing towards the stone wall, I sighed again, and thought, (Just like in the anime.) Turning my body around, I peered over my shoulder and smiled.

"Alice, hop on."

Alice gave me a beaming smile as she launched herself forward, and wrapped her body around me, like a small koala. Smirking, I stood up and jumped upwards landing on the top of the wall with ease.

"Ah! Don't forget Zeke!"

Gazing back down I saw Zeke, gazing up at me, with his tongue rolling out his mouth. Seeing his tail waggling furiously behind him, I chuckled slightly, before jumping back down and retrieving the small dog. Placing him inside of my shirt, he popped his head out and leaned out the collar of my shirt. Getting back up on the wall, I felt a hand grab my ankle, gazing at the zombie's hand. I gave my foot a little yank and the arm connected with the hand appeared spraying blood in the air.

Giving my foot another shake, the arm fell off, and I started walking across the top. Seeing the hundreds of zombies on the road I frowned slightly.

(Aren't there more zombies than usual?)

To answer my question Kane's voice appeared....

{Host! I detect an energy spike nearby!}

Gazing upwards at the sky, I watched in amazement, as the sky itself seemed to tear. From within I could see nothing but darkness. From that void, a small figure emerged, and I felt the sides of my mouth twitch.

"You've got to be shitting me..."
