Chapter 404 - Chapter 405: The Empire's Declaration

Hey guys! It's been a while since you've received a message from me, so I just wanted to say hi. I'm writing to tell you that I'm creating my own original fan fiction story called 'Essence Made Demon King'. I've always wanted to see more custom-made Demon King fanfiction, but sadly there isn't much, so I decided to write my own! Check it out and let me know what you think!

...

A satellite suddenly appeared in the sky, naturally drawing everyone's attention.

Most people on Earth who could see it were stunned. After all, anyone would react to seeing a satellite suddenly materialize above their home planet.

"What's going on? Are aliens attacking?"

"No."

"It looks like the work of a powerful Lore Cardian."

Some people suspected a Lore Cardian, and the only Sovereign-tier Lore Cardians in the area were Azrael and Motian.

Therefore, most people believed it was Motian's doing. After all, in their opinion, Azrael was merely a Master-tier Lore Cardian.

Compared to the astonished crowd, Lucian and the other two were much calmer.

This was because they were the first witnesses, having already experienced shock once.

"I never thought Edley would be defeated like this," Lucian sighed, looking at the pale satellite in the sky. Then he turned to Azrael. "Azrael, what are your thoughts on the Indo-American Federation?"

His question was naturally well-founded.

With Edley sealed, and the Skinner, Apache, and Grandma Zia dead in the Empire, the Indo-American Federation now had only two Master-tier Lore Cardians left, making it incredibly weak.

Even without the Empire intervening, neighboring nations could easily seize a piece of its territory.

Under such circumstances, how could the Empire stand by and watch its spoils be arbitrarily divided?

"Teacher, just do as you see fit," Azrael casually replied to Lucian's question, then gazed south with a serious expression.

Seeing his expression, Lucian and the other two were startled at first, but then quickly realized what was happening.

Since Edley's connection to his cards had been severed, that meant,

Boom!

A tremendous roar echoed from the distant horizon, instantly sweeping over Azrael and the others' location and spreading further out.

"That Sovereign-tier demon from Antarctica has emerged," Azrael announced gravely, identifying the source of the roar.

Upon hearing this, Lucian and the other two's expressions darkened.

Although Antarctica was vastly distant from the Empire of Aetherlight, it was a stone's throw for a Sovereign-tier being.

Moreover, the devastation wrought by a clash between two Sovereign-tier beings on Earth alone was definitely not what the people of Earth wanted to see.

Such incidents had occurred before in history, and the results were invariably devastating.

But Azrael couldn't be blamed for sealing Edley away. After all, the two sides were locked in a stalemate.

With this thought, Azrael let out a light breath and said, "I'll go take a look."

Before Lucian and the other two could persuade him, Azrael had vanished from their sight.

Seeing this, the three exchanged glances and sighed.

Deep down, they didn't want Azrael to go. After all, he'd just fought such a hard battle, and even if he went, he wouldn't be of much use.

But since Azrael was gone, they could only accept the situation.

"Let's go back and prepare a contingency plan."

Elsewhere, Azrael, carried by Shiraori, quickly arrived at Antarctica, where energy waves were emanating in circles.

Feeling the heart-pounding aura in the distance, his eyes flickered. "Tsk..."

"It's a pity I'm still a little short of Sovereign tier."

However, although Azrael's current strength wasn't enough to deal with the Sovereign-tier demon in the center of Antarctica, it didn't mean that he had no other options.

He could mobilize others.

Azrael took out a communication device and sent a message to someone.

[Your Majesty, aren't you looking for world consciousness? There is one in Antarctica.]

That's right, the one he was contacting was Louis XXIV.

As for whether there was any remaining world consciousness in Antarctica, Azrael wasn't certain, but based on Edley's performance, there should be some. Even if there weren't any, there should be other anomalies.

Just a few seconds after he sent the message, a handsome gray-haired man appeared beside him. It was Louis XXIV.

"Lord Azrael, how are you?" Louis XXIV greeted Azrael with a smile upon seeing him. He then looked towards Antarctica. "If I remember correctly, Edley had been suppressing the Sovereign-tier secret realms here before?"

"Where is he?"

Due to France's geographical location, the newly-launched satellite in the sky was naturally invisible to Louis XXIV, so he was naturally unaware of the battle between Azrael and Edley.

Upon hearing this, Azrael shrugged and said, "Maybe he fell asleep."

He fell asleep in the sky.

Hearing Azrael's words, Louis XXIV was startled at first, but then he shook his head and smiled. "Lord Azrael, you're such a joker."

Despite his words, a flicker of fear crossed his mind.

Louis XXIV naturally didn't think Edley was asleep, nor did he believe the White Crown would give up the Antarctic secret realms so easily.

His absence could only mean something unexpected had happened.

As for who was responsible, Louis XXIV glanced at Azrael, and the answer was clear.

But he didn't believe Edley was dead. After all, if that were the case, the young man beside him wouldn't have been coerced and bribed into revealing this information.

With this thought, the French Emperor chose to pass over the topic. "Thank you, Lord Azrael, for the information this time."

"Otherwise, I'm afraid I would have missed it."

This was a lie. Louis XXIV had also heard the noises from Antarctica earlier, but he simply assumed Edley was battling the local Sovereign-tier demons and ignored them.

Who would have thought that the demons from the secret realm had broken through the blockade?

After a brief exchange, Louis XXIV took action.

Amidst the mighty hymns, heaven descended upon the bitter cold of Antarctica.

But Edley had been able to suppress these demons within the secret realm because he had gained the upper hand.

Now that the demons had broken the seal, forcing them back into the secret realm would be no simple matter.

Louis XXIV naturally understood this, and he wasn't going to drive them back.

Instead,

Whoosh!

A wall of light, like a wall of sighs, enveloped the entire Antarctic, isolating this bitterly cold land from the outside world.

Since there was no way to force the demons back into the secret realm, why not just turn the entire Antarctica into a secret realm?

This was Louis XXIV's idea.

However, at this moment, a figure that was beyond the expectations of Azrael and the others appeared before their eyes.

"It's you, Louis." The person plucked a light feather floating in the air and said in a frivolous tone, "I thought it was that woman Catherine."

"Motian." Louis XXIV called out the person's name and said in a stiff tone, "What are you doing here?"

"Want a piece of the pie too?"

The person was Motian.

Upon hearing Louis XXIV's words, the Golden Emperor shook his head slightly and turned his gaze to Azrael. "I'm here for that young man."

"Louis, you probably don't know that Edley was sealed by him, right?"

Hearing this, Louis XXIV glanced at Azrael in surprise, but then he quickly controlled his emotions and said with a curled lip, "So what? Lord Azrael is our Prince of France. You don't expect me to stand up for Edley, do you?"

His words seemed to be a response to Motian's statement, but in reality they were a warning against any hostile thoughts towards Azrael.

At least not in front of him.

But while he said this, Louis XXIV was deeply shocked.

Edley was a veteran Sovereign-tier Lore Cardian. His strength was comparable to his own. Who would have thought that he could be sealed by a young man with only Master-tier strength?

It seemed like a fairy tale to him.

But since Motian had said so, Louis XXIV didn't question the truth. After all, it was better to believe it than not.

Meanwhile, Azrael wasn't surprised that Motian knew he'd sealed Edley. After all, the Mughal Empire wasn't far from the Empire of Aetherlight, so it wasn't surprising that Motian had discovered their fight.

Rather, Azrael was somewhat surprised that Motian hadn't taken action.

"Tsk!" Motian's face darkened at Louis XXIV's warning. "Mind your own business!"

He glanced at Azrael again, then vanished in a flash.

Azrael's confusion deepened.

He didn't think Motian would be so easily deterred by a few words, and he hadn't even intervened during his previous fight with Edley.

After briefly pondering the reason and unable to grasp it, Azrael suppressed it for the time being.

He turned to Louis XXIV and said, "Then I'll leave this to Your Majesty."

"Understood," Louis XXIV nodded slightly. He would have done so even without Azrael's words. After all, this matter concerned his breakthrough to true divinity.

Seeing that Antarctica wouldn't be in trouble anytime soon, Azrael didn't linger and turned back to the Empire.

Empire of Aetherlight.

Lucian and the other two were preparing an emergency plan to prevent the situation in Antarctica from worsening.

Just then, Azrael appeared in the office.

Seeing him, the three were stunned. "Azrael? It was resolved so quickly?"

"I called Louis XXIV over," Azrael explained casually.

Hearing this, Lucian and the other two suddenly remembered that the young man in front of them still held the title of Prince of France.

The three shook their heads and didn't ask any further questions.

But they were fine. Azrael wasn't.

He frowned and asked, "Has there been any unusual activity on the Mughal side recently?"

As he spoke, he recounted what had just happened.

After hearing his story, Lucian and the other two exchanged bewildered glances. Tempest then spoke, "They had some unusual movements before, but they quieted down after we transferred the Northern Defense Army there."

"I see."

Azrael's reaction to the Mughal Empire sparked a flurry of speculation. The most likely scenario was that something had happened within their borders, perhaps a new Sovereign-tier secret realm.

However, considering Motian's volatile nature, Azrael assumed anything could happen.

All he could do was break through to Sovereign tier as quickly as possible.

With that in mind, Azrael made a decision. "I'll go directly to the Indo-American Federation before they react."

Lucian and the other two exchanged glances.

They felt Azrael acted anxiously, as if something was constantly chasing him.

After a moment's silence, Tempest said, "Let me go with you, Azrael."

"No need," Azrael shook his head, declining the offer. "I'm enough on my own."

Tempest was about to say something, but Azrael had already vanished from the office.

Indo-American Federation.

Tok and Knight, Master-tier Lore Cardians of the Conservative Party, were sitting in a spacious office, excitedly celebrating with champagne.

"When Lord Edley returns, those barbarians will no longer be able to hinder the unification of the Federation," Tok declared, his face flushed.

He had long disliked the Radicals, especially that old woman, Grandma Zia.

Hearing this, Knight, standing nearby, took a sip of his champagne, then walked to the window and gazed out at the towering skyscrapers. He spoke excitedly, "After centuries of division, the Federation has finally been unified under our control."

"I'm sure future generations will remember our names."

Tok said, seemingly unconcerned. He shrugged and said, "Why think so far ahead? We should think about how we're going to divide up those Radical territories later."

It was called division, but in reality it was occupation.

Did they really think they were good people devoted to the country?

If Lord Edley captured those Radical Masters today, the Conservative Party would be free to do whatever they wanted.

At this moment, a hint of worry crossed Knight's face. He hesitated and said, "Vangeance Lord Edley be okay with us doing this?"

He was interrupted by Tok before he could finish his words. "If you don't take it and I don't take it, how can Lord Edley take it?"

"That's right."

They exchanged a smile.

A moment later, Tok suddenly said, "Calculating the time, Lord Edley should be back soon, right?"

Knight glanced at his wrist. "It's been a while. Are those Empire people really that difficult to deal with?"

The two knew of Azrael's existence and his formidable strength.

But that was only relative to the Master tier. Could Edley, a Sovereign-tier Lore Cardian, possibly be defeated?

Impossible, absolutely impossible!

"Once that Empire man's head is placed before those Radicals, I don't think they'll have any objections," Tok chuckled. "I hope they don't become ungrateful."

In his view, Azrael was merely a tool to appease the Radicals' anger, and the Empire would then become a natural target for the Federation.

Killing two birds with one stone, why not do it?

Just as the two were chatting and laughing, a tremendous pressure suddenly descended, crushing the building they were in into dust.

Then, a voice without any emotion echoed from the sky.

"Edley is sealed. From today on, the Indo-American Federation is a vassal of the Empire of Aetherlight."

"Who is in favor? Who is against?"
