Chapter 2 - Back to earth

-You Have Died-

A pair of deep black eyes were staring at the message floating before his eyes in a dazed look, but the contents of the message nor the strange manner in which they appeared before him surprised him. It was his second time seeing this message.

The pair of eyes closed and appeared to be recalling a memory from long long ago when the message last appeared. perhaps he was deep in thought or he was having trouble remembering, but the entity or the screen in front of him paid no heed to it and new lines of messages started appearing in it.

The pair of eyes which slowly opened caught the last line of the message, an eagerness appeared in them as a voice asked

"I, want to go back, sent me back there"

-Sorry it's impossible-

"Why? you said I can ask anything as my reward, why sent me back now"

-Sorry Player, no new gates can be opened between the worlds now-

"Then how did you send me there before, don't lie to me"

-That was a special reward to the player who was the first to die during the Startup-

"ARE You Kidding ME! What am I supposed to do now my entire life was built there, My Wives were there" Seemingly recalling something the eyes showed a sense of great sadness and two names escaped the mouth barely audible.

-The player was only supposed to survive there for less than 2 days to get the max reward-

"Can you bring them back? at least the two of them please." This time the voice had a pleading sound.

-Sorry the targets don't have a Player contract, it is impossible to revive them-

"ARGHHHhhhhh" This time there was great anger in the voice and a pale fist went through the screen before the eyes, but it did nothing and went through it as though it didn't exist.

A few more fists flew at the screen continuing their pointless action till they eventually gave up and came to rest, beside a figure of a youth lying down on the ground.

The youth closed his eyes and after what seemed like a long time of internal struggle he spoke a word.

"Status"

And as if to give a response the words in the screen before him changed

"HA" a burst of laughter escaped his mouth staring at the screen he looked at the pitifully low numbers this too was his second time seeing them, just minutes before he was a great emperor the strongest existence in that world which had become his home, but he was not worried at all as there too he had started from the same low numbers and grown steadily in a world where even a random insect can one-shot him.

He was just a typical high schooler, the kind you can find everywhere, he had friends and did everything an average high schooler would do until everything changed. One moment he was sitting in his classroom listening to his teacher and sometimes stealing glances at a girl he had a crush on, and the world just went red and a message appeared before him.

He had no time to process what happened as more messages started appearing before him

When he opened his eyes again he was in an unfamiliar place with no one near him. He had stood there dazed not knowing what was happening or what he was supposed to do. He found himself in the middle of a deserted landscape with red sand and red skies there was no sun or moon in the sky but the sky still had a red glow.

He shouted for help or ran around looking for any sign of people but found nothing. When he was tired out he broke down and started crying and soon fell asleep on the ground.

He woke up in an unknown amount of time, hungry and thirsty. He was completely tired both mentally and physically and had no idea how to alleviate his hunger or thirst as he was empty-handed and only had his school uniform which he currently wore.

He looked around the landscape and everything looked the same an endless sea of coarse red sand and a sky with an eerie red glow. So he just picked a random direction and began walking straight.

As he dragged his tired body across the landscape, he looked around for any changes around him. After an unknown amount of time, his tired eyes finally caught a slight moment in his peripheral vision and he immediately turned his head to the side to observe it.

It was a small black beetle about the size of his thumb scattering about the desert sands. he stood there rooted on the spot observing it. His body nearly acted on impulse and almost pounced on it but was held back not by human rationality, no he was too hungry for that, what held him back was fear. Yes, a deep fear from the bottom of his every being.

He was completely immobilized by fear and could only silently observe the beetle as it completely ignored him and scurried about, But he suddenly jumped back in fear as rows ad rows of text appeared before him in bright red.

-Black beetle Lv : 126-

-Extremely Dangerous-

He fell on his back and started screaming madly, but thankfully nothing happened. After some time he calmed down. When he looked around there was no sight of the insect.

He had no idea what was happening, but the messages that appeared before gave him some sort of clue. He remembered seeing similar messages before he was brought to this world and it called him a player. All this reminded him of a game and he suddenly felt like some things made sense.

Reading one or two web novels he knew what had probably happened but his rational mind denied that possibility. Still, there was only one way to be sure. He took a big breath and called out

"STATUS" and something really did appear before him

- Name : Earvin Ink

- Mana : 0

- Exp : 0/100

reading this he had no idea what to make of it but two things immediately jumped to his mind one was his level Lv : 0, he clearly remembered that the beetle had some 125 or 126 and he didn't have to be a gamer to tell what will happen to him if he tried to eat it. But it was the second thing that really caught his attention and that was the 10 basic rations in his inventory.

Yes, he nearly laughed out loud and brought his hand on top of the inventory written on his message. as he touched the screen changed rows of boxes appeared before him all the boxes were empty except the two in the top left corner. one had a picture of bread on it and the other a wooden chest, it looked like a game screen.

He clicked on the one with bread and immediately the screen disappeared and a loaf of bread appeared in his hand which he immediately wolfed down not thinking about the magical technology which had materialized it out of nothing.

That was his first day in [The Nether]. But there were more days to come.

He had survived in that world for a long long time and even founded a country and got married to two beautiful and strong women and became stronger together with them and built up an empire which he ruled for the last 150 or so years step by step.

It was only through betrayal and treachery that he and his empire had fallen in the war. And even then he had managed to launch a counterattack with his wives. The only reason they had failed was because of the attack from the [Sky Peircer]. In the end, it was the grand cannon that he himself had made that killed one of his wives.

He had no idea how the enemies managed to reach it and get it to fire, but that one shot changed everything. it had taken down one of his wives who had jumped in front of the beam to protect him and then he had lost himself in anger and even got his other wife killed.

And lastly, he himself was beheaded. remembering that he touched his neck and found his head was still there, and looking up so was the sun which he had not seen for over 200 years, he was back, back to earth.
