Let's review the last 3 days.
Crash-landed in the land of, I mean FORMER Land of the rising sun. (The original 120+ million population was reduced to thousands..and most of them got out of Asia.)
Killed some bluebird that pulled some trick out of the aether. (They called it...a Psion?)
Ran into a french maid in training and a sandwich girl. Lovely girl. (I hope you mean the sandwich girl.)
Met the nurse, stronger than she looks, oof.
(Yae)
What are we celebrating?
(Funny.)
Met the gal everybody knows.
(Hibari.)
Following that, BOOM! blasted in the head. A pink-haired wonder got you out of that helmet when a drill-bit and a jackhammer couldn't do jack to the thing.
(First breath outside of prison without it. Since...well never mind now.)
Now you're paying her back by teaching her the way of...what exactly? (There are still more details to work out.)
I know the joke wasn't your style, but I'm glad you shook her Captain to the point he started foaming at the mouth, HA! Best idea I've ever had! (I can't believe you talked me into doing that...)
But onto more serious business...
(Go on...)
This Sakaki Paylor.
(It's up in the air if our offer pans out. He's a scheming-looking dude.)
There's a guy with a poker face...but I guess that explains this place.
(A kid working here not even in the double digits...)
I still don't buy her food is that good.
(Wait till you try it.)
Speaking of kids. The one you saved.
(Yeah,..)
We find Inmate 1103 Sano Shimazaki standing in the center of the training his god-arc propped at his side. Suffice to say he wasn't aggravated, but if nothing else, I guess you could say miffed. Before him, Kanon was doing a butterfly stretch and transitioned to Piriformis Stretch, or close to it.
What made the inmate scowl was not waiting for Kanon to finish her warm-ups, if it helps her, being patient was the least he could be.
As Sano loomed his eyes further to the right, he saw Erina mimicking her.
"And...were...DONE." Kanon said breaking her posture, with a breath of exhaustion. Erina did the same.
"Did Sakuya really do this every day?" Erina whined.
"That's what she said. Before the baby, every day. Well...I saw her do this one where she held her whole body up with just her head and her arms." Kanon went on to explain as Sano watched the two interact.
"AHEM!" the two girls stopped their conversation to see Sano staring down at them.
"What's she doing here?" Sano asked pointing at the teen god-eater.
"Oh, so yesterday while we were talking, I figured since Erina is off duty for a while, why not come train with us?" Kanon said, putting an arm around Erina.
"Is...that ok?" Kanon asked, as she and Erina desperately puppy-eyed the felon.
"Ugh...It's your wish so you can make whatever changes you want. Just give me a warning next time." Sano said with a rigid breath.
The girls cheered in celebration and stood ready to begin.
"Wait, wish?" Erina asked.
"Questions later. With me.." Sano lead Kanon and Erina to a stand holding up a rack of weapons on display.
A mock scythe. A mock blade. A mock buster blade. A short-blade, the whole set of melee weaponry in blunt low-grade metal mock-ups.
"Kane, feel out whichever feels the best to you, and we'll start up after that." Sano ordered. Kanon tilted her in confusion staring at the rack.
"Erina since you can't use your god-arc there's an extra spear for you. You're gonna warm up with me." Sano said, cutting off Erina before she could voice any concern.
"O...hkay." With a concerned look on her face, Kanon hesitantly inspected each weapon on display, starting with one of the buster blades.
Seeing Kanon follow his lead, Erina couldn't help but be compelled to do the same. When their eyes met, Kanon could only give a begrudging shrug. Erina grabbed the spear and distanced herself.
"How's that feel?" Sano asked. Kanon was waving the buster blade, using it more as a tennis racket than a sword.
"I'm, not-sure...?" Kanon said with a frown.
"Grasp it with both hands tightly." Sano said.
Kanon did so bringing the blade to her shoulders.
"Straighten it, and extend your arms." Sano commanded.
"Umm, like this?" Kanon awkwardly extended her trying to keep the blade balanced. While it was a mock weapon, its weight was quite genuine.
"Yeah, now raise it above your head and swing using your left hand." Sano said paying attention to posture.
Kanon took a deep breath and raised the blade. With another breath through her nose, Kanon swung down with her left hand while holding tight with her right.
Nothing abnormal came from the simple swing, but Kanon began to lose her balance and began to hop to get it back.
Sano caught her mid-trip keeping a grasp on her hand.
"What's the verdict? Think you can do that with the other weapons?" Sano asked, looking down at Kanon's pink ponytail.
Kanon's frown grew deeper looking at the buster blade.
"IIIIII, think I better move to the next, this one isn't really a fit, I think." Kanon said.
"We don't need perfect, just the first thing that feels you. Let me know when you're done." Sano commanded taking the buster from her and planting his god-arc next to the stand.
He inspected the hunk of metal and spun it backhanded. Sano glanced at Erina frowning inspecting her own weapon.
"You sure you want to be here?" Sano asked. Erina jumped at seeing him only an arms's-length away from her.
"Y-Yes, I do! Please don't kick me too! Because of Captain Kota's order, I can't even see my god-arc Oscar!" Erina begged.
"(She named it.)" Sano thought in surprise.
Well, ain't that a surprise!? Oop, doesn't like long-blades the way to go.
"If you want him back, you've gotta work for it." Sano pointed his practice blade at her.
Erina stood firm, erasing all trace of doubt from her face.
"Yes sir!" she said.
"Good, attack me." Sano ordered.
Erina widened her eyes in surprise, doing a double-take.
"What are you doing? Attack me." Sano said, seeing her lower her spear.
Erina paused and shifted back.
"Attack him?", he said?
Muttering to herself, she stuttered the only response she could think of.
"S-Sir, we're trained to fight monsters..." Erina said, frowning.
Sano raised a brow.
Hah.
HAHAHAHAHAHAH!
Sano cackled using the blade to hold himself up while grasping his head. Erina was taken aback and confused.
"What's so funny?" Kanon called holding the spare spear.
"Don't worry about it." Sano signaled back to Kanon while still using the practice sword as a crutch.
I think I like this kid!
Catching his breath Sano smiled, turning his attention back to Erina. She was very put-off at this point, not unlike Kanon.
"Erina...Aragami aren't the only monsters in this world..." Sano said.
"Huh?" Erina muttered. Just what did he mean?
"Although, I guess that's beside the point right now." Sano said, as glowered at Erina.
The room illuminated with a golden light, and Erina found herself under immense pressure.
Kanon almost dropped a spear, as she turned back to see the source.
Sano was once again in the energy of Burst, but his god-arc was still by Kanon.
Erina grew starry-eyed. Her amazement grew short however seeing Sano give her a stern leer.
Erina began stammering trying to form a tangible response, but the inmate was having none of her crass today. He wasn't Kota.
"A spoiled little rich-girl like you should've never picked up a god-arc." Sano said. The calm tone was anything but to Erina's ears.
Her nostrils flared, and she reared back her spear charging at Sano, to be met with a parry from his handle and hilt.
Erina shot off multiple thrusts, only to have each blocked by the practice buster blade with nary an effort from Sano.
Erina charged up the practice spear. The drill came undone to reveal a more blunt-looking one as fumes erupted from its bottom half.
Erina shot forward and Sano side stepped letting her fly past. His Burst aura disappeared. Erina came around again, but Sano only moved slightly to avoid her charge.
Kanon looked as the two sparred, with much concern. Sano's Burst was gone and he seemed calm and focused. The rage she felt earlier was gone all of sudden.
In contrast to Erina launching rapid assaults at the inmate.
It crossed her mind to interfere, but the way the fight was going, Sano was clearly in control. He was only defending.
Kanon could only hope for the best and return to her own chore. Currently deciding whether to test the hammer or the scythe next.
Erina's spear returned to its depowered state and she thrust it at Sano only to be met with the low-grade tower shield of his buster blade.
Erina flew into a backflip and charged her spear once again. The range wasn't as long as before, so she took the initiative thinking he couldn't dodge or parry.
Sano un-deployed the shield and met Erina's powered spear with the butt of his hilt.
BAMMM!
