Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Beliefs and Arguments

I did NOT just say that. She won't believe me! She never does! It's not like she cares enough about me to even care how I feel.

"No, you weren't, Ruby, Eli is DEAD. Ruby, DEAD! Understand me! He is dead and he isn't coming back! His funeral is this Friday! He literally killed his own flesh and blood just because he didn't want to deal with you! Don't you get it? Obviously not. You are not worth it, you are extremely selfish, the biggest disappointment known to man, you are ugly too. I mean, how could you be mine and your father's daughter! You are not an excuse for a human being." She says and I look at her angrily. She never cared about me, she might as well kick me out. I could just go up to my room and get all my stuff and then go live with Eli in the dead!

"No. I am NOT a disappointment. I will do great things in my future and then be laughing in your face when I graduate college and get a good job and get married to my boyfriend and have a family and be successful." I say with determination. She cannot bring me down.

I watch her with a glare as she takes one large step towards me. She brings her hand up and strikes me across the face. I stay there with no reaction as she throws me towards the wall behind me. My head hits the wall and then the floor. She walks over and kicks me in the stomach over and over and over again. I wince as the pain purses through my veins. I will NOT cry.

"This is what happens when you deny my words. And then you go and talk back to me. This will not continue on. You will not eat dinner tonight or eat breakfast tomorrow. Go. To. Your. Room. NOW!" She finally screams.

She finally turns around and walks over to the oven to finish up the dinner that is now for her and my father who is late home again.

I groan and get up slowly as I walk over to the stairs. Before I go up, I look over to her through the kitchen entryway. "I don't care what you say. Good night, Elana." I sneer at her and limp up the stairs after being kicked in the shins. I get into my room and slam the door shut and lock it.

I look at my appearance and see that my cheek is as red as a tomato, I have a bruise starting to form just above my eye, my hair is stained a bit with blood as the blood soaks portions of my hair and trickles down my neck. My arms and legs are then bruised up and down.

I start to say to the mirror, "Eli, Eli please be there. I need you right now. Please Eli, please." I beg the mirror. I smile with the best of my ability when the mirror starts to change. I now see Eli sitting on the couch looking at me.

"I'm here honey. Hold on, what the heck happened to you?!" He says with worry and I step through the mirror.

I look at him while thinking about that jerk of a mother that I have. "My mother happened, Eli. I talked back to her. Also, apparently I 'denied' her words. Whatever that means. My consequences of doing that to her is not being able to eat dinner tonight or breakfast tomorrow either. Just great isn't it?" I say and his eyes fill with sympathy.

"Ruby, you do know that you can eat here if you want right?" He says and my eyes light up.

"That means I can spend more time with you!!!" I squeal like the absolute girl that I am. He chuckles at my happy appearance. My mother just covered me in bruises and I'm smiling. Good times, huh?

"Come over here." He says with a smile. I walk over and hug him as tight as I can without anything hurting. Even though I wouldn't mind that anyway. I can practically hear him smiling as I lean back and go in. He sees what I'm up to and follows my lead. Our lips meet right in the middle. I smile into it and finally pull back. Neither of us has ever kissed someone before. I look up at him with a giant smile and he has a full blown grin plastered on his face. I gotta do that again sometime.
