Su Ye pouted.
"This is very important."
As she spoke, she reached out, trying to take her Jade Pendant back.
Su Qing held the Jade Pendant tightly.
"In my benefactor's eyes, am I more important, or is this Jade Pendant?"
This question sent Su Ye into a long, difficult deliberation.
'Ah, they're both so important.'
But in the end, she still spoke up.
"Su Qing is more important."
'The less important Jade Pendant for the more important Su Qing.'
'Right, nothing wrong with that.'
And so, on that long night, the intoxicated Su Ye, cornered beneath the rockery, was first bitten, and then tricked out of her life-saving Jade Pendant.
One could only wonder what the sober Su Ye would think when she woke up.
After being thoroughly duped, Su Ye finally fell asleep, curled up in Su Qing's arms.
She clutched Su Qing's lapels, looking very reluctant to have given up her Jade Pendant even as she drifted off to sleep.
