The Aeneid.
His brows drew together.
"...Virgil?"
He looked up, a question already forming on his lips.
But before he could speak, Eloi merely offered another faint, enigmatic smile.
He tilted his head ever so slightly, as though the answer Adrian was looking for was already hidden somewhere inside those pages.
Then, without another word, he turned away.
Crossing the playground at an unhurried pace, Eloi reached the sandbox, where his little boy looked up at him with a bright grin.
He took the toddler's tiny hand, gave Adrian one last knowing glance over his shoulder, and quietly led his son out of the playground.
Adrian couldn't help but wonder what the book was supposed to mean.
More than once, he considered calling Ryley to ask.
But every time his thumb hovered over the contact, he stopped himself.
If Ryley had chosen to send Eloi instead of coming personally, there had to be a reason.
The puzzled look refused to leave his face even after he returned home.
