"Remember what we discussed the other day?" he asked. "About Hawk Tech becoming the Trojan horse."
Clyde frowned. "What are you trying to say?"
Vincent drew a slow breath before answering.
"What if that's exactly what our enemy wants?" His eyes drifted back to the map. "What if they want us to uncover their conspiracy? To focus all our attention on tearing down the Trojan horse—whether that's Hawk Tech or the breached gate—because they know we'll believe we've found the real threat."
He looked back at Clyde, his gaze unwavering.
"...When in reality, the real enemy was never hiding inside the horse to begin with."
Hearing Vincent's words, Clyde's brows lifted almost imperceptibly.
For a brief moment, he simply stared at his Commander.
He hadn't expected to hear those words again.
