A tortoise's indestructible shell would end up becoming useless once flipped on its back. The mighty T-Rex had short forearms, making it incapable of proper combat performance in narrow spaces.
Whether it was a long-lived fortress or an Apex Predator, there was no such thing as absolute invincibility, and the Thorn Queen was precisely targeting this aspect.

Originally, as a Gate that required Aurora to combat many opponents that only seemed to get stronger, this was supposed to be the perfect chance to deeply study Aurora's combat patterns.
