Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

The sound of metal striking metal. The squelching of molten metal being put in water, or oil. Fire roared through the entire room.

Lore likes to hang out in the forge, even if he couldn't help the forge master. Soldiers from every corner of the kingdom seemed to have been flooding the city. Valorum found himself busy working with other Knight Commanders. With so many different ranked Knights, the upper echelon of Knights were known as commanders. Knight Lord's and above fell into this category. Nearly twenty Knight Lord's, ten or so Knight Generals, accompanied by two Knight Kings.

Psi found himself wandering around the City of Towers. Word had come that his family and their men were to match to the City on the border, and help defend their country. He had a lot on his mind and found himself wandering aimlessly, the sun was setting and all he had done was walk circles through the city.

Did he feel ready for war? It was a rhetorical question, he had to be, and he knew he'd have to watch soldiers die, and kill many enemy soldiers. Psi was fundamentally different than Lore in that he ditestes death and the act of killing. His whole reason for joining up with the Knights was to please his father, and join the Paladins, spreading peace and prosperity. His training nearly complete, yet he found himself distraught with anxiety. Psi's heart pounded like a war drum inside of his chest.

'It's finally time, I have accumulated enough energy, and we shall show those pathetic humans who the most powerful country is'

Esper, Matriarch of the Daemon Empire, stood before her army, five-huundred thousand strong, and addressed the army emphatically.

"Tomorrow we begin our conquer of the measly humans! Underfoot shall their corpses lie, our army will match and destroy their lands!"

Raaaahhhh!!!

Cheers erupted from the army, and the clatter of the soldiers pounding on their shields.

Esper then pointed her sword, and the huge army began its match towards Internia. Like a sea, the armored mobsters all marched their way across their many lands, and made little time for rest. These monsters had a sole objective on their minds, annihilate the Internians.

Word had reached Valorum, and the other present Knight Commanders, that the imposing force had five-hundred thousand enemy troops. Correspondence was immediately sent to the High King, who in turn had more troops sent, and 'He' was sent to defend the Frontline.

Lore was sharpening both of his swords, resting in his tent. He was stationed in General Valorum's camp, seeing as Lore was his apprentice. Rumors started spreading throughout the entire internian army of The Knight King. No one knew his name or what he looked like for he didn't speak to anyone, and never revealed his face from his plate helm.

Talk spread of the impending battle to come, and how ferocious the enemy army sounded. Lore grew excited, but also felt his stomach tighten. and his heart raced with anxiety. He had grown stronger, but how much? Just a year ago, he could barely handle one of the lowest of ranked Daemon's. His twin blades gleamed in the light, and he gently layed them to rest. A knock landed on the front wooden post of Lore's tent.

"Who ever is there is free to enter". Lore remained seated as he pulled a bottle of alcohol out from his pack and spoke.

The tent flap gently split, and the twilight rays filled Lore's tent as the sun fell below the horizon. Once his eyes adjusted, Lore spotted Psi right in front of his eyes, beaming at his best frirnd.

Lore practically jumped to his feet, and then embraced his friend. Psi reciprocated his friends affection, and then took a step back. "Good to see you, who knew they'd let an ugly son of a bitch onto our Frontline. I better watch my back incase you miss some". Psi chuckled and took a seat on Lore's chest.

"Ha! you're funny man, but if they were deciding troop placement by appearance im sad to say you may not even have a chance to fight, stuck in the back and all". Lore snickered, and sat on his cot, pouring both men a glass of liquor. "You ready for this? We won't be seeing our homes for a while. Do you really feal up for this Psi? As much as you've trained.. you're still not a fighter". Lore raised his mug, and clinking it on his buddies mug, and gulped down half the drink.

"I have you watching my back, and I have a Fiance to protect. Don't think I won't fight my hardest to defend our homeland." Psi spoke, and a grin spread on his face reassuring Lore of his confidence.
