Synopsis
There’s a saying ‘if you don’t understand my silence, you’ll never understand my words.’ This book “FOLDED SECRETS” is a collection of short stories. It picturizes the stories of years ago when messages and chats were nonexistent and people chatted by posting letters to their loves ones. Here specifically a postmaster finds out some interesting letters that were rejected or returned back to the post office. The stories depict the unrequited love stories of some chosen personalities. Let’s dive into their world to experience the rawness of one-sided love. (ps) Hold some tissues before reading. Trust me, you’ll need it. Thanks me later.

Chapter 1 - It's Worth Keeping it Forever

Mr. Nair recognized a letter kept on his desk. This letter came to his office 1 month ago and was kept in the corner of his desk. The letter was returned by the postman who was unable to find the address given in the letter.

Sometimes letters do return to the post office due to inappropriate address or due to shifting of people. And this letter too had it's reasons.

He read it....

"Hi Saanvi,

Today I'm gonna share with you something very important. Believe me, I thought that I'll keep it within myself to my grave but now when you are going far away, I've piled up my courage to share with you my feelings.

My little feeling… a little strong…I don't remember when it exactly started, when exactly I put you in my heart, when exactly you took an important part in my life… I worked hard not to recite your name countless times in my heart and I promised myself that I won't let you know…it is just enough if I am the only person that knows.

But then I realized something. The taste of one-sided love is philter like a replica of love potion but now it seems to be out of date. I thought I could stay like this, I was happy keeping it within myself …because it is enough if I am the only person that knows.

Fully aware of my ungovernable feelings; still I cannot summon up my courage as your feelings were always opaque. Sometimes I do felt that our feelings were mutual. But the repeated realization that may be I'm the only one who thinks this way, frightens me and moreover… it is just enough if I am the only person that knows.

I thought I was very strong but I was totally wrong. I cannot help myself to falling to you every time you prattle. The more resistance I created, the more you pulled me back. Of course you never knew that!

I think I've already oozed out of your life…that you might have already forgotten our risible talks…that you have never considered me more than a friend.

Thanks for still seeing me as a friend…. I'll try to think of you as a friend too… "I'm happy for you"….these are the best words I can give you.

Since I've already put my whole youth into it, it cannot be erased so easily no matter how much I try. I won't plea you to think of me or to be with me… it is just enough if I am the only person that knows. I can alone love enough for both of us… because it's my first love... it's worth keeping it forever!!

If someday you receive this letter, just read and toss it somewhere. When I'm writing this, I'm not expecting you to come to me, but I felt that some things should be left for the destiny.

Your one and only childhood buddy,

Ritham."

As Mr. Nair put back the letter inside the envelope, he looked at the back of the envelope. Then he searched something in his register and spoke, "Indeed destiny played its role. The people who lived in the given address moved out to another country. Tsk!! This letter will never reach its destination and so his unrequited love will last forever,"
