Han Yan Meng, the Little Princess, turned to look at Jun Mo Xie, her eyes wide with astonishment. There was something oddly familiar about him that stirred something in her memory.
The Third Elder, too, was startled, his eyes narrowing sharply. He turned his head to Jun Mo Xie, let out two cold hums, then shifted back to the Solitary Falcon, speaking in a softer tone.
"Master Falcon... please, let us extinguish this thunderous rage. Perhaps you and I should step aside and exchange a few words..."
The Solitary Falcon snorted, but didn't reply. His body floated away without so much as moving his feet, drifting like a shadow until he landed in a corner, his back facing them.
The Third Elder instructed Mu Xue Tong to tend to the Sixth Elder, then whispered something else into his ears as he passed by, so softly that even if one dared to eavesdrop, not a single syllable would have been heard.
Meanwhile, Han Yan Meng's eyes were still fixed upon Jun Mo Xie, her gaze filled with suspicion.
Jun Mo Xie's heart skipped a beat. He cursed inwardly. 'This little girl, why is she staring at me like this?!'
He shot her a grin, curious. "Hey girl, what are you staring at? Never seen a handsome man before? Don't tell me you've already fallen for me?"
Han Yan Meng's nose wrinkled. Her face revealed utter disdain as she turned away with a sharp humph! but the faint flush on her cheeks betrayed that his teasing had still hit its mark.
Jun Mo Xie exhaled faintly. Curious, he probed lightly into her memory... and in that instant, realization struck him.
So that's it!
This little princess had once met that reckless bastard, Jun Xie, back when he'd been in a most embarrassing state. No wonder she felt something familiar when she looked at me.
After all, both of their bodies... were identical.
"Is she Yao's sister?" Jun Wu Yi's eyes flickered as he looked at Han Yan Meng. His tone, though calm, betrayed the faint excitement buried deep within.
"Yes, she is the youngest Princess of our City. Her name is Han Yan Meng." Mu Xue Tong's lips curled into a warm smile as he turned back. "But Wu Yi, tell me... are your injuries really improving as the Sixth Elder said?"
"Yes⦠he was right." Jun Wu Yi's gaze unconsciously drifted back to the young girl before him, a sigh escaping his chest. "But⦠I fear these legs of mine still won't be able to move about freely for a long while."
Though his words carried weight, his heart was far heavier.
'Brother Mu, I trust you⦠but not in front of so many eyes and ears. The truth cannot be spoken here. The Jun Family's secret⦠must never slip out at the wrong time. I'll tell you later, in private.'
For now, if Mu Xue Tong carried this 'good news' back to Han Yan Yao, her restless heart would at least find some peace. Yet it was so painfully ironic, this was never how he had planned things to be!
"Good! Very good!" Mu Xue Tong could not contain his joy and slapped Jun Wu Yi's hand with a brotherly force. His voice trembled with sincerity. "I will immediately send word to the Eldest Princess. I can already imagine how overjoyed she will be when she hears this!"
"Thank you⦠Brother Mu." Jun Wu Yi's reply was soft, but his heart thundered within his chest.
At that moment, Han Yan Meng tilted her little head, her eyes sparkling with mischief as she sized him up. "So you're Jun Wu Yi, my Brother-in-law? Hm⦠you really do look quite sensible and mature. No wonder my sister talks about you every single day. Hee heeā¦"
Jun Wu Yi's expression stiffened. Her words were playful, but each syllable carried the weight of a decade he had buried within his soul.
"My sister spends her entire day thinking about you," Han Yan Meng continued blithely, her innocent tone as sharp as a blade, "so why don't you ever go see her? Hm? If you don't know her address in Silver Blizzard City, I can just tell you right now!"
Jun Wu Yi's face twitched, his lips trembling as the ghosts of his past surged forth. "I want to go there! These ten years⦠there hasn't been a single day when I didn't yearn to see her againā¦"
His voice cracked, revealing the abyss of sorrow and longing within.
"Ohhhā¦" Han Yan Meng blinked, as though she had finally understood. But her naĆÆve mind still couldn't truly grasp it. "Ah! I get it, you can't go because of your legs, right? Don't worry! There's a really amazing doctor in Silver Blizzard City. I can take you to him!"
Mu Xue Tong let out a long sigh and gently shook his head. "Little Princess⦠it isn't that Wu Yi does not wish to go. It's that he cannot go, not unless he becomes tyrannically strong. Otherwise, he wouldn't even be able to approach Silver Blizzard City, much less enter it!"
"Why?" Han Yan Meng's large eyes widened like a startled fawn. "Even I can go in and out whenever I want! And his strength is obviously much greater than mine."
"Idiot!" Jun Mo Xie's sharp grunt cut across her innocent words. His expression made no effort to hide his disdain. 'This silly girl is just too much! She actually dares to call my uncle her brother? Cheap! Absolutely cheap!'
Han Yan Meng's cheeks puffed up with anger. She stuck out her tongue at Jun Mo Xie, her voice dripping with mock indignation. "Your nephew is so rude! Shouldn't he be calling me 'Aunt'? Hmph! I'll just tell my sister about this when I get back. She'll come here and teach him a lesson! Someone needs to fix those manners of his!"
Jun Wu Yi, who had been silently enduring waves of joy and sorrow, froze when those words hit his ears. His heart nearly leapt out of his chest. "What? Your sister⦠is coming to the Jun Family?"
The possibility alone shook him to the core.
Ten years of absence, ten years of longing, ten years of silent torment... could it truly end just like that?
Yet even as joy erupted within him, a faint bitterness lingered, like a cherry dipped in acid.
It was sweet, but unbearably sour.
"Of course!" Han Yan Meng clapped her hands together as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "She wants to marry you, doesn't she? Naturally she'll have to come to the Jun Family. The only reason she's been training so hard all these years is so she could one day be worthy to stand by your side!"
Jun Wu Yi's eyes trembled, a thin sheen of moisture forming over them. His lips parted, but no words came out.
Ten years... Ten long, desolate years.
And now⦠he finally knew her heart's true feelings.
"She still thinks of me⦠she still misses meā¦"
His heart quivered violently.
"Tell me," He whispered, leaning forward as if the weight of his body was drawn by sheer desperation, "tell me everything about your sister, Little Sisterā¦"
His tone was urgent, his voice raw with longing.
Han Yan Meng's eyes curved with triumph as she planted her fists on her hips. "Of course! That's not a problem at all. But firstā¦"
Her finger shot out like an arrow, pointing straight at Jun Mo Xie. "Make him call me 'Aunt'! He's your nephew, and you're my Brother-in-law, so that makes me his Aunt. Isn't that right?"
"Like hell it is!"
A furious bark rang out, but by the time Jun Wu Yi turned, the only thing left was the faint blur of dust as Jun Mo Xie had already vanished without a trace.
Jun Wu Yi's lips twitched violently as he watched the boy's retreat. 'This little brat⦠he really can run fast when he wants to.'
On the other hand, Jun Mo Xie was feeling a headache.
'This little girl's tongue is sharper than a blade... she really is a miniature storm! And Aunt? Aunt!? I'm old enough to be her ancestor, and she dares to call herself my aunt? This girl⦠she's absolutely maddening!'
