Chapter 67 - Maybe I can

Elijah's confused, an arrow? From where?

In his hand an arrow with similar design to the arrows he's got from the village, sharp metal head and sleek body , though the quill has a fletch made of wood rather than feathers.

He doesn't have time to think about it, he knocked the arrow and fired it, and it hit the thunderbeast near the belly.

Elijah felt the arrow fly, straighter? He can't really describe it.

Elijah tried thinking of another arrow and another one appeared in his hand. Though he didn't notice, the arrow stuck on the thunderbeast's belly disappeared.

This just confirmed that he can create arrows. So he knocked his bow and fired the arrow, hitting near the thigh.

The process repeated itself, after five more shots hitting on different parts of the thunderbeast, and as Elijah knocked another arrow and was about to fire it.

"STOP!!!"

Someone screamed. Elijah looked around and found Leslie running towards them.

"Leslie?! What are you doing here- guhh!" Elijah was bewildered as Leslie tackled him, knocking them to the ground.

"Please, you have to stop!" Leslie said with urgency

"Datu Storm, Datu Dagat! Please! Stop!" Leslie cried out.

Storm and Dagat were halted as they were about to throw another volley of attack and cast a glance behind them to see Leslie on the ground with Elijah.

The thunderbeast saw the chance as it prepared to swipe its claws, ready to shred the two humans to pieces.

"I. Said. STOP!!!" Leslie screeched as roots came out of the ground and coiled at the thunderbeast's legs and neck, preventing it from moving an inch.

Elijah, Dagat, Storm, even Leslie, looked on with shock as thick tree roots wrapped and held the thunderbeast in place.

"Why was she back there all this time?" Dagat asked, looking at the marvel of Leslie's work. He held up his hand above his head as floating water is created, spinning rapidly until it formed into a spear, err, a javelin would be a better description.

Leslie stood up as she saw this, feeling drained, then walked as fast as she can, "Please wait!" She called out once more.

"Why? This is our best chance to eliminate one of the thunderbeast." Dagat said as he held the water spear in his hand, ready to throw the finishing blow.

"Please let me talk to it first." Leslie said as she walked past the two datus and approached the thunderbeast.

"Its dangerou-" Dagat called out but Storm held his shoulder.

"Let's see first what she's about to do." Storm said with seriousness and faith in his eyes. Dagat obliges but kept the water spear out, ready to attack at a moment's notice.

Leslie stood in front of the beast, who's looking at her with fury in its eyes.

"You're hurt," Leslie said, and the thunderbeast looked at the human in front of it as if saying 'great work Sherlock Holmes'.

"Please, allow me to heal your wounds," Leslie then touched one of the vines, which glowed green and began slowly shrinking.

The green glow slowly extended to the thunderbeast, the wounds being touched ever so slow began to close up.

It stopped after closing up the small wounds and bruises. After seeing this, the thunderbeast calmed down, somehwat.

"You're grieving." Leslie softly said.

'You killed my child! You destroyed our home! You attack us!' The Thunderbeast's thoughts were heard by Leslie alone.

"And we are sorry, we didn't understand you, so we feared you," Leslie looked down.

From an outside perspective, it looks like a wolf-like monster was about to attack a damsel in distress, only to be stopped by thick plant roots.

'Apologizing won't bring back my dead child!' It screamed in pain.

It was then that Leslie remembered something, "Maybe I can." She muttered as she relayed a request to the tree roots.

Somewhere else in the forest.

An empty patch of grass suddenly became active as dirt was push away and a corpse revealed itself.

Then tree vines gentle carried this corpse as it swung from tree to tree.

A familiar goat saw this and curiously began following it.

A few minutes later the trees began to thin out as roots started carrying the corpse instead of vine.

An unusual scene played itself as in the midst of battle, a corpse is being carried by plant roots being followed by a goat.

It caught everyone's attention, especially those from the Tribe of Swirling Winds and the thunderbeasts.

Because its the corpse of the baby thunderbeast!

Angered even more, the thunderbeast attacked with even more ferocity only to be aprehended by thick plant roots.

The warriors and Datu Shula and Tlaloc saw this as an opportunity but as soon as they attacked, they were blocked by a thick wall of roots.

Confusion and apprehension spread as an awkward stalemate descended.
