His enhanced vision pierced right through the camouflage netting. He stripped away the reinforced concrete of the surface compound layer by layer.
He mapped the patrol routes, tracked the thermal signatures of the armed guards, and cataloged the automated turrets.
"A decoy." Rudy crossed his arms, staring down at the pristine surface buildings.
He pushed his gaze deeper into the earth. A sprawling labyrinth of subterranean levels extended far below the bedrock. Over a hundred floors buried in the dirt held the true operation.
Sneaking in meant mapping blind spots and hacking security doors. It meant wasting time playing spy games.
He had a promise to keep with Rebecca.
"I am not wasting my night crawling through air vents." Rudy cracked his knuckles. "I need to get back to her bed."
