His plan failed, but the god of history and seers wasn't totally helpless against the god of knowledge. In fact, he was aware of one fatal weakness of the pathway of knowledge and had the means to take advantage of this weakness.
He had been biding his time to use this weakness because he didn't want to use it prematurely. Now that he was in a desperate situation, he had no choice but to use it. So he activated the Sight Control divine ability and took away the sense of sight of the god of knowledge.
The sense of sight and perhaps the most important sense of the godclads of knowledge. Without it, they won't be able to use many of their divine abilities.
The loss of the sense of sight plunged the god of knowledge into a world of darkness. He couldn't see anymore, so he couldn't use the Analyze divine ability anymore.
